Iranian Press: Obama to fund anti-govt elements in Iran

Obama to fund anti-govt. elements in Iran: Report

Quote:
US President Barack Obama is re-branding a Bush-era plan to fund anti-government Iran-based elements through domestic and foreign entities, a report says.

The Obama White House has apparently refused to act on the former administration's decision to allocate USD 66 million to Iranian dissidents, devising a new approach instead, USA TODAY reported on Friday.

His team has demanded that an additional USD 15 million be pumped into the Near Eastern Regional Democracy Initiative which addresses related issues in the region.

Some of that money will be targeted at Iran, said David Carle, a spokesman for the appropriations subcommittee that oversees foreign affairs, the daily added.

Meanwhile, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which promotes the country's foreign policy, has filed an application for a 20-million-dollar grant earmarked for the groups which back opponents of the Iranian government.
There's going to be more and more of this as time goes by.

Re: Iranian Press: Obama to fund anti-govt elements in Iran

Hello,

My first post so here's goes. .

Fifteen whole million?? Wow. We are spending 30 billion a month in Iraq and I don't know about Afganistan, etc. Ben Laden said all they have to do is get us involved with a war in the middle east that we can't afford and sit back and watch the US unravel. Isn't that what's happening? And the money we are spending is borrowed. From whom? China is the main one. If they are supporting this horror of a regiem, what will we do then? Where are we getting the hundred's of billions of dollars that the President is giving out? I WANT to help the people in Iran but how can we? Who will want to fight it? The government can't hardly get people to sign up now. The military is being forced to rotate multiple times as it is. I know of two pilots who have been forced to go back over ten times apiece. We only have so much strength to give. Am I wrong? Tell me where I'm wrong.

The UN needs to get off it's butt and get to Iran and we need to be a part of that. Of course, that brings up the horror of having to deal with Russia and China who will back Iran's leaders. AND if that happens, we could be looking at a world war people with most of the players have nuclear bombs.

I hate being an armchair warrior here. I bleed for these people and have been watching anything I can find everyday. It is wrong. . terriably wrong. I wish I could send strength to them. I put up a green flad, I joined Amnesty International, I encourage the brave people who are sending videos to YouTube. . I don't know what else to do but pray.

I don't see an end to this.
