Israel's mistake. Still doesn't give Hamas license to kill Jews and kidnap Israeli soldiers.

You're right, most of the violence is occurring in the West Bank... Oh wait, most of the violence in the West Bank now is caused by ILLEGAL Israeli settlers. Good logic!
Illegal in your mind. The British Mandate permitted Jews to settle anywhere in Palestine including in Judea and Samaria.

Nice to know you recognize Israeli control over the border crossings.
I also recognize the US's blockade of Cuba.

Yeah, we'll just call up the mandate when it's convenient and ignore the other parts (ie. immigration). The British Mandate of Palestine no longer exists. They threw it in the trash when they declared their independence and decided to go around terrorizing the British.

'cept, the Pals rejected "independence" when they took a pass on the partition plan and, thus, having any part of Palestine. We could revert back to the Brits, or, better still, the Turks as the last owners of Palestine. Since neither wants it, seems only right to allow the Israelis to have it.

You can sit here and try and make all manner of sanctimonious arguments. The fact remains that the Mandate was terminated and is worthless when discussing the current state of affairs.

Well, maybe Jordan will accept the Pals, since they rejected the UN partition plan that would have given them the West Bank.

So have you given up on the "the settlements are legal" argument?

The settlements are legal, I'm merely looking at other options for where the "Palestinians" can live that are Judenfrei.

You do realize:
The UN Security Council, the ICJ, the European Union, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and about 200+ countries deem the settlements as illegal.

And because you're horrifyingly slow at coming to realizations, maybe you'll understand that "Palestinians" will always have a reason to pursue armed struggle when there's people like you who believe building settlements, checkpoints, and BARRIER WALLS does not constitute occupation.

I do realize. I also realize that the UN and ICJ rulings are non-binding. Stephen Schwebel, former president of the ICJ, has supported the view that Israel has a valid claim to the territories based on the territory having been captured in war defensively. HRW and AI have no legal stature. Their long history of anti-Israel bias further marginalizes them. 200+ countries "deeming" the settlements as illegal has no legal bearing on the situation.

"Palestinians" will always have a reason to pursue armed struggle because it's what they live for. Building their own society is of marginal interest.

All Stephen Schwebel said was Israel has a better title to the West Bank than JORDAN, because Jordan seized it unlawfully in an act of aggression while Israel seized the land unlawfully in self-defense. The worst part is he said this in the 70's. It's 2009, genius.

Israel's position has not been accepted by the International Committee of the Red Cross, nor has it been endorsed by the other High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention. Article 1 of the Convention states that "The High Contracting Parties undertake to respect and to ensure respect for the present Convention in all circumstances".

On 15 July 1999 a conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention met at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. It ruled that the Convention did apply in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem. In 2001, at a one-day conference of High Contracting Parties, 114 countries adopted a three-page declaration re-affirming that the terms of the Convention applied to the Palestinian territories.
