Democrats Are Cowards in the Face of Israel's Brutality

I really don't understand all this Israeli ass-kissing. I don't kiss anyone's ass. And I make it a point, not to kiss Israeli ass. Why? It's like when disco got popular and everyone was into it, I had to go the other way just for the sake of balance. For that very reason, I'm glad we have conservatives, 'cause who wants a world full of nothing but liberals? But I draw the line at hypocrisy. And the hypocrisy coming out of Washington in support of Tel Aviv, has got me goin'. We elected the Democrats, because we were sick of the neocon's. And the last thing I want to see from the Dems, is to start acting just like the Reps. And on the issue of support for Israel, there is no difference between Mr. Change Obama and Mr. Anti-Christ Bush. It is 100% blind allegience to the David Star State no matter how brutal the Israeli government's actions in the OPT are.
Quote:
The Democratic leadership's strident support for the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip underscores how the Democrats suffer from the same illusions as the outgoing Republican administration: that placing an Arab territory under debilitating sanctions that punish the population as a whole, bombarding heavily populated civilian areas -- resulting in widespread casualties among innocent people -- and invading and occupying territories with a long history of resistance to outsiders will somehow lead to greater moderation from those afflicted.
I call a spade, a spade. I don't call it a heart, diamond or a club. And cutting through all this BS about how they are trying to minimize civilian casualties, I have to say that, "Israel has committed war crimes!" So has Hamas. But I hold the Israeli government in higher regard than I do Hamas for the simple reason that they are more organized and should know better. And they probably do. They just don't care. The don't care about world opinion. They don't care about human rights. The don't care about international law. They don't care about the impact their actions have on others. So, what goes around, comes around, I don't give a **** about them either. Their ****in' liars. They act like Nazis. They practice aparthied. They brutalize Palestinian's. And the more they think they have a free pass to do whatever they please, the more I'm gonna tell them to go **** themselves!

When did the truce officially end? November? I know there was a few months there that was pretty quiet. And within the last month, the **** has hit the fan. So it's a little strange that the ****in' bitch, Hillary Rodham Clinton, would write a letter back in June, on behalf of American's for Peace Now, another Israeli kiss-ass group, outlining the military offensive going on right now in Gaza.
Quote:
In June, 38 of 49 Democratic senators -- including Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton of New York -- wrote a letter (PDF) to President Bush that Americans for Peace Now, a moderate Zionist group, warned would build "a defense, in advance, for a large Israeli military offensive in Gaza." The letter also urged the Bush administration to block any U.N. Security Council resolution critical of Israel, claiming that United Nations opposition to Israeli attacks against crowded urban areas constituted a refusal to "acknowledge Israel's right to self-defense." An almost identical letter in the House, drafted by House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., received the signatures of 150 of the body's 230 Democrats.
If Hamas broke the truce and Israel was simply defending themselves per Article 51 of the UN Charter, why was US and Israeli officials talking about this offensive back in June? That's not a reaction to rockets, that's a pre-emption to war. And why would the House pass a resolution back in March that contained wording regarding this "human shield" issue?

Quote:
In apparent anticipation of the large numbers of Palestinian deaths that would result from such military operations in the Gaza Strip, the House passed a resolution (PDF) in March, during an outbreak of fighting, that claimed, "Those responsible for launching rocket attacks against Israel routinely embed their production facilities and launch sites amongst the Palestinian civilian population, utilizing them as human shields." The resolution goes on to specifically condemn "the use of innocent Palestinian civilians as human shields by those who carry out rocket and other attacks" and yet again makes note of Palestinians who "continue to be utilized as human shields by terrorist organizations."
And why do non-political watchdog groups disagree with these human shield claims?
Quote:
But according to Joe Stork of the Middle East division of Human Rights Watch, while Hamas failed to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians in the densely populated Gaza Strip, the watchdog group had found no instances of Hamas actually using human shields in the legally defined sense of deliberately using civilians as a means of deterring counterattacks.
So it makes sense to barr foreign journalists from Gaza, Israel wants to control the propaganda.

I get the impression that Israel thinks their all that, and a bucket of chicken. And the more they act like that, and the more you Israeli brown-nosers go romancin' the zion, the more I just want to bitch-slap their ass! And when you go outside the controlled media of both the US and Israel, you find things that are conspicuously omitted from discussions and debates regarding the recent hostilities. Like the fact that it was Israel, not Hamas, that officially broke the cease fire.

Quote:
On Nov. 5, Israel launched a brief but significant military incursion into Gaza. Though the raid was a clear violation of the cease-fire that had been in place at the time, no criticism was heard in Washington. There had been a series of minor violations by both sides, but the magnitude of this raid appeared designed to provoke Hamas into letting the cease-fire lapse. Israel then tightened its siege of the Gaza Strip, prompting Human Rights Watch to note that "Israel's severe limitations on the movement of nonmilitary goods and people into and out of Gaza, including fuel and medical supplies, constitutes collective punishment, also in violation of the laws of war." Despite this, President-elect Barack Obama and Democratic congressional leaders continued to defend the sanctions.
And that it is Israel, not Hamas, that is preventing peace in the region.
Quote:
Hamas appeared willing to renew its cease-fire in return for Israel lifting the blockade on humanitarian and other aid and ending its periodic raids into Gaza and assassinations of Hamas officials. However, Israel -- again, supported by Obama and Democratic congressional leaders -- refused.
You people that make excuses for Israeli atrocities really piss me off. This **** about reducing civilian casualties is a farce. If you were actually doing that, you wouldn't be attacking non-military targets and trying to lie about them being used for military purposes later.

Quote:
explain how a number of the most deadly Israeli strikes, which took place nowhere near any legitimate military targets, constitute acts of self-defense. These have included the missile which struck a group of students leaving the U.N.-sponsored Gaza Training College in downtown Gaza, the bombing of a mosque during evening prayers, another missile attack centered in civilian neighborhoods in the crowded refugee camps of Jabalya and Rafah, as well as a series of attacks against the territory's one university. Scores of others who worked in government offices under the Hamas administration but had nothing to do with rocket attacks against Israel -- or any other military function of the Islamist party -- have been killed as well.
Israel, catch the ****in' clue! You do have a right to exist, but you don't have a right to lie about your existance.

What I would like to see my government do in leiu of kissing Israeli ass, is to use our military to open the roads Israel closes. To air-lift in humanitarian supplies and aid to Gaza, much like we did to West Berlin in the early '60's. But alas, that would take something that doesn't exist in America...........dems with balls! And even though the reps destroyed this country in every way politically, economically and phylosophically, at least they had balls!

Re: Democrats Are Cowards in the Face of Israel's Brutality

Obama said today that he wouldn't speak on the issue because he's not President. I'm willing to buy that, even though I think he should speak out immediately (the political ****storm that would cause would be horrible).

That sounds like an evil, pragmatic position to hold, and I have tremendous doubt that Change is coming anywhere near our relationship with Israel/Palestine.

And this is why I have been so pissed that Obama chose Clinton for Sec of State. What the **** kind of change is that?

But I still have Hope. I've honsetly been fantasizing lately that Obama launch a Gaza Airlift. It would be awesome, but my feeling is that Obama's nose will get browner than it already is.

Aljazeera Arabic this evening interviewed Sayyid Najm, an Egyptian novelist and literature specialist on war in literature. He is author of, among other things, Ayyam Yusuf Mansi (Cairo: Zahran, 1990). He made some interesting points about the structure of war novels, and the way the pacing has to be picked up during the battles. The interviewer then asked about the current fighting.

Q. In light of your experience with war in literature, what do you have to say about Gaza today?

Sayyid Najm: If were were to speak about the literature of war with regard to today, I'd have to say that there is no war in Gaza. In Gaza today, all that we have experienced and lived through and dealt with the meaning of, tells us that a war is a conventional army fighting another conventional army. But here the tanks are going against flesh and human beings; bullets and bombs and fighter jets against bodies and eyes, children and women; death before blood and earth. This is no war. What is going on in Gaza, if we are to express it correctly, is state terror.

Informed Comment: Sayyid Najm: "Tanks against Flesh is not War"

Being for or against something for the sake of balance means you are arbitrarily for or against things without rhyme or reason except for fashion.

Because Hamas has set a precedent? Because Hamas doesn't have a history of allowing cease fires nor the first time they have sent randomly targetted rockets into Israel? Because everyone pretty much knew that Hamas was stoked by the 2006 fight that they were creaming their pants for round 2?

Quote:
And why do non-political watchdog groups disagree with these human shield claims?
NON-POLITICAL? I'm sorry, who are these guys? Would they be the ones that ignore the VIDEO of people firing rockets and mortars next to civilian buildings, kindergardens, and apartments? What about when the made a call on the national television to surround the house of Abu al-Hatal, Abu Bilal al-Ja’abeer, Othman al-Ruziana, Ma’amoun Abu ‘Amer with children to cause the Israeli's to call off anticipated airstrikes against them (each one of those is a separate instance). Some nice info to digest or More fun pics<--- if you go by those pictures alone you can wonder what kind of soldier can get into a firefight and not hit any civilians. Those nice civilians made their bed. Now they have to sleep in it. Not shedding tears here.

Quote:

Very smart of them actually although most of the press already has contacts with both Hamas and IDF. They also receive a number of photos from both side as you might have already noticed. Wouldn't help if a CNN report gets hit by an airstrike while interviewing a Hamas officer. Crackdown on the media alleviates some pressure since your average person can fathom what real war is like. Western newies would be eating up the dead bodies and creaming their pants to put it on TV and in print. We saw the same thing in Iraq.

Quote:
Like the fact that it was Israel, not Hamas, that officially broke the cease fire.
The Israeli's found a tunnel 300yrd from the Gaza border. Not a water main, nor any other sort of social services tube. A special unit was sent to seal the tunnel. Was met by heavy gun fire skirmish ended shortly afterwards. Rockets and mortars soon follow and as well as Israeli reprisals. Rocket attacks kept getting larger and larger and larger. Negociations failed that week to reassume the cease fire. After a month the current mess happened. Is that the info you're seeking?

Quote:
And that it is Israel, not Hamas, that is preventing peace in the region.
Sorry, your sources don't jive with other sources. Meds, fuel, and electricity have not cut off until the siege. They were reduced and the amount by which they were reduced was never contested by any country. Ironically Egypt not selling food, allowing medical supplies through, and not brokering an energy deal with Gaza was barely mentioned as a sidenote. So the question still stands. What about Egypt? And why are other Arab nations blaming Hamas for this? Wait, Arab nations agreeing with Israel? Is it cold because of winter or did hell just freeze over?

Quote:
You people that make excuses for Israeli atrocities really piss me off. This **** about reducing civilian casualties is a farce. If you were actually doing that, you wouldn't be attacking non-military targets and trying to lie about them being used for military purposes later.
Hmm, who's been launching randomly targetted rockets that don't care if they hit military or civilian targets? Who fires mortars from the lawn of the Beit Hanoun Elementary School for Boys? Who fights in civilian clothing instead of a uniform? That would be Hamas.

Who uses precision 250lb guided bombs instead of carpet bombing an area? Who makes surgical strikes on Hamas officials instead of dropping 2000lb bombs on the area "just to be sure"? That would be Israel.

Quote:
Israel, catch the ****in' clue! You do have a right to exist, but you don't have a right to lie about your existance.
Huh?

Umm, why would we want to send out military to assist a terrorist organization? Why would we drop meds and aid in an area where everything is controlled by Hamas? Do you think that Hamas won't redistribute this stuff "taken from a dead zionist pig" to their people? Do you think Hamas won't hoard it or sell it as they've done it in the past? Even Jordan complained

So after all the railing you specifically done against the US playing referee in Iraq you want them to do the same in Gaza? Seriously?

If the UN has a single ounce of testicular fortitude they would have invaded Palestine, blocked Israel from entering, and forcefully disarmed and dismantled Hamas. But I have a better chance of winning the lottery than that ever happening.

There's no fence riding in this war and after the propoganda loss last time Israel isn't going to cave as easily as they did the last time. They aren't going run back home with their tails tucked under them this time. Palestinians had better learn that there are consequences if you cheerlead for Hamas. Unfortunately they're learning that the hard way. Unfortunately I don't see them supporting a moderate government anytime soon.

He's been willing to speak out on a number of interests before. He's been very vocal on the economy, Afghanistan, climate, africa, prop 8, and the UN.

*Breaking news: Obama speaks out.

He's deeply concerned..... Oh and GWB should be the sole voice for US policy on this subject right now. Wait, what happened to "the transition", the office of the president-elect, or the fact that he's technically still a Senator? Oh yeah, better to keep his hands clean and try to sweep up the pieces assuming the fight ends before the 20th. Better PR that way.

Tanks against flesh is very much war. Palestinian intransigence pits tanks against flesh and flesh against conscience.

The Arab intelligentsia lives to put the Palestinian people in a position to be slaughtered in a grotesque manner.

That is the Palestinian tank.

And if the Intelligentsia cares so little for their own flesh that they leave it to the mercy of their enemy, do not complain when the enemy shows an equal disdain for the sacrificial flesh.

You've made an assumption that I seem to have taken a side in this thing. Both sides can go straight to hell as far as I'm concerned.

The current conflict didn't begin in November. Or last summer. Or in 1967. Or in 1947. It started over 100 years ago, when Zionists aggressively displaced native Muslims with the help of the English. Said native Muslims have acted desperately as a result ever since ... and, well, it's all very reprehensible. But it's also the way of the world, if you want something as the Zionists did. Native Palestinians didn't play the game as well. They lost.

I really don't like bullies. But as a Christian, I also don't think violence is a reasonable response, for me or for anyone else.

So ... Chickens. Roost. Etc.

Did you know the whole current conflict was predicted by anti-Zionist Jews living in the region about 100 years ago? What a mess it is, that has been made.

The sovereignty of every land on Earth has been decided by the group who used superior force to assert their claim to the land over those who also wanted the land.

The Israelis have used superior force and tactics to defeat all their challengers every time since they became a nation in 1948. Yet, they have been lenient in dealing with the Palestinians. But their seeming lenience has been a curse to the Palestinians as well as to the Israelis.
