How is Iran Winning, if their Hamas friends are being bombed and killed? In what respects did Iran win the recent war in Lebanaon, where many of the Hezbolah were killed, wounded and lost their homes?

What is one of the main goals of Iran? One of the main goals is to APPEAR to be less immoral than other countries, particularly those countries who might criticize Iran's human rights abuses.

Iran is creating diversions from their own problems, by inciting their friends to antagonize Western Bullies.

No Western papers are running stories on Iran's human rights abuses. Iran is winning. Carry on.

If the West wants to Win, the West has to convince Iran's Friends, Hezbolah and Hamas, that Iran is using them to incite the Western Bullies. The West has to make a deal that shows how Hamas and Hezbolayh can win, without following Iran's inciting temptations.

There is a conflict between Saudi Arabia, as a Sunni nation and Iran, as a Shia nation.

Saudi Arabia had a friend in Iraq with Saddam Hussein and the Sunni controled government. Now that Iraq is Shia controlled, Irans power has fewer checks.

Once the US military has left Iraq, could Iran form a coaliton of the willing with Iraq, and take over Saudi Arabia?

Iran wants nuclear weapons for the sake of deterrence. With all of the American neo-imperialism happening in the Middle East these days, it wants to make itself untouchable. That includes making itself safe from Israel as well. Iran is in a good position economically right now, and with nuclear weapons it could put itself into an even better position to become a regional hegemon. That's what it wants, not mutually assured destruction.

The fanatical alarmists in the West are using propaganda to spin the story. Look at who is the most frightened in the UN. Not China, not Russia, not Egypt, not anyone who is in remote connection with the Middle East... but the Western powers who are backing Israel are the ones calling for immediate sanctions.

The West doesn't want Iran to have nukes, not because of it posing danger, but because it makes Iran inaccessible to future agendas.

My major was in world history and politics. Pick up a history book instead of dishing out ad hominems.

This is incorrect. Iran was a functional democracy until the CIA aided those so-called whackjobs from rising to power. I didn't see calls for the newly installed leaders to be toppled then, and that's because at the time the U.S. supported them. Now there is a convenient shift in support because Iran no longer wants to kiss American ass. That's why they are now the enemy, and not because of nuclear potential.

There is no proof to back this assertion, other than paranoid supposition.

Nice attempt at polarizing the argument along partisan lines. Unlike you, I don't succumb to modern propaganda. On the contrary, I have studied the shifts in power and support that America has placed upon its allies and enemies in the Middle East. Iran is one such paradox, and is yet another example of how a former ally that the U.S. created is suddenly labeled as the enemy due to its incompatibility with current U.S. foreign policy.

I really hope you learn how to debate with real information instead of forming baseless, personal attacks that are both ill-constructed and unuseable in this debate.

So you're telling me that Iran will do what no country in history has done: give a weapon to an organization it does not control and cannot maintain control of the weapon, and hope and pray that Israel doesn't nuke Iran back. So you're saying that decades of ensuring that the Mullah's power in Iran is never seriously threatened and that none of those in power ever risk their lives will suddenly trade everything they've worked for including all of their power to kill maybe 50% of the world's Jews when there are first 20,000 Jews in Iran who by the way are growing in number?

This fear frames the debate.

I see signs that Iran is careful about what missles it gives to Hamas. The Katusha rockets are really very unsophisitcated and cannot be accurately aimed. So the fact that Iran is probably supplying Hamas with Katush rockets is not evidence that Iran will give Hamas nukes.

But the fear is real to Israelis.

I startted this thread to better understand the locgic of how to better negotiate with Iran. How much trouble is neede to get a better understaning of Iran? How many people have read the Magd book?

Fear based on misunderstaning is unfortunate.
