Egypt must cut off the smuggling of weapons into Gaza. Israel can also advance the cause of peace by taking appropriate steps – consistent with its security – to ease the freedom of movement for Palestinians, improve economic conditions in the West Bank, and to refrain from building new settlements – as it agreed to with the Bush Administration at Annapolis.

Let me be clear. Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper – but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.

I get the feeling that he was as uninformed as most of the voters were on the subject of the Middle East and Islamic terrorism when he began this campaign. But over the months he has learned a lot and is finally seeing things accurately.

The words spoken today suggest so.

And so if he now recognizes the threat of Islamic expansion, generally, and the particular threat to world peace that's posed by Iran, specifically, then I'm not as adamantly opposed to the idea of his presidency as I was before.

And if he says he will pull out of Iraq and yet still be committed to stopping Iranian expansion then I will no longer be as concerned over the November outcome as I had been.

This comes as a great relief to me.

Today, Reuters reported:

Hamas has seized control of the Palestinian water agency that is spearheading Middle East envoy Tony Blair's signature project in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian and Western officials said on Thursday.

Hamas's takeover of the Palestinian Water Authority in Gaza cements the group's control over the territory and could cast doubt on the future of the North Gaza Sewage Treatment Works project -- a centerpiece of an economic package touted by Blair to try to bolster the chances of a peace deal this year.

Oh, this is typical. When the "victims" aren't the little lambs people want them to be, they seek the philosopher's pulpit and pretend to reverse it into a fortune cookie.

Hamas always does something. Arab governments always does something. Muslims destroy Muslims from Africa through to Asia always. Muslims are slaughtered in Sudan by other Muslims and the Arab world barely peeps. Muslims are slaughtered in Iraq by other Muslims and the Arab world seeks to blame America for daring to lift the dictator. Palestinians have a history of slaughtering other Palestinians and the Muslim world seeks a Jewish conspiracy of instigation. Always a scapegoat and never self-acknowledgement. But thrust a Hamas act of violence towards their fellow Muslims in front of the international pro-Palestian masses who need them to be hapless victims in front of Israeli tyranny and they immediately seek to exhonerate it by twisting it into a philosophical fortune cookie. I guarantee that this story is as dismissed in the Arab world as any other that involves Muslim on Muslim violence. You see, Muslim death holds no interest unless they can tie it to American or Israeli existence.

Most of the time, you people have no idea who you are seeking to defend. Those you seek to defend have never looked for "peace." What matters to them is the path of glory...not the end result. These types of people within the Middle Eastern civilization will always be there to destroy any threat of peace between Muslims and Jews...and Muslims and the West. Defend the average Muslim...not the Muslim monsters apointed and self-appointed over them.
