Israel's UN violations

Both the United States and Israel are supposed to be democracy's based on the rule of law. As such, one would think we would support actions that enforce the rule of law. Since both country's are member states of the United Nations, we are duty bound to honor the UN Charter. In the case of the US, certain provisions of the UN Charter have been ratified by our own Congres and thus, according to the Supreme Law of our Land, shall be given the same weight as the Constitution itself.

So, in light of these principles, one could be easily dismayed when seeing just how many UN resolutions Israel is in violation of. And in seeing this, how can anyone come to the conclusion that it is ALL the Palestinian's fault for the chaos in the Middle East, more specifically, the Occupied Territories.

The resolution below, was established in 1979, 28 years ago. Almost 30 years have gone by with Israel in violation of this basic resolution to leave the occupied territories. If this isn't thumbing your nose at the rest of the world, then I don't know what is.

The Security Council,

Affirming once more that the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949 1/ is applicable to the Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967, including Jerusalem,

1. Determines that the policy and practices of Israel in establishing settlements in the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967 have no legal validity and constitute a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East;

2. Strongly deplores the failure of Israel to abide by Security Council resolutions 237 (1967) of 14 June 1967, 252 (1968) of 21 May 1968 and 298 (1971) of 25 September 1971 and the consensus statement by the President of the Security Council on 11 November 1976 2/ and General Assembly resolutions 2253 (ES-V) and 2254 (ES-V) of 4 and 14 July 1967, 32/5 of 28 October 1977 and 33/113 of 18 December 1978;

3. Calls once more upon Israel, as the occupying Power, to abide scrupulously by the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention, to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature and materially affecting the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population into the occupied Arab territories;

Israel must leave the OPT. That is not a negotiable item. According to world opinion, Israel has no right to this land and, therefore, must leave.

And to be fair, the Palestinian's must use all necessary means to stop rockets being fired into the Israeli homeland. The firing of these rockets is just as wrong as the occupation itself. They are hurting innocent people and that is not acceptable on either side of this conflict.

With that being said, the purpose of this thread is to highlight just how much Israel has violated International Law and in doing so, is taking a major dump on humanity and the laws of man.

Immediate cessation of all military activities also include the rockets from the Palestinian side. But you don't need to be a rocket scientist to see who is mostly at fault here.

Israel does have a right to exist. And there are many Israeli's that do not agree with their governments actions in the OPT. As one example, I offer this website to prove that some Israeli's, do have a concience.

That Israel not only has the right to exist (which you stated), but that Israel has the right to all the land they currently occupy. I do think that both Israel and the Palestinians need to reach a peaceful agreement as to a homeland for the Arabs there...but not while Arab terrorists like Hamas and Hezbollah are allowed to exist and continue their terrorist activities against Israel.

Israel has offered the Palestians peace time and time again...but the Palestinians let the terrorist groups speak for them and the terrorists always break the peace agreements, time and time again. When does Israel have the right to say "Enough"?
