65 thousand Iraqi soldiers ready for Mosul liberation battle - Iraqi News

Nineveh – Iraqi forces are preparing for a battle expected to take place during the coming few days to liberate the city of Mosul from the grip of terrorist group of ISIS.

Iraqi media outlets mentioned that around five thousand fighters belong to ISIS are controlling the city where 1.3 million citizens are besieged inside the city.

News websites reported that 65 thousand Iraqi soldiers divided up into six divisions are expected to participate in the battle.

IT'S ABOUT TIME

It is always good to see the plans handed to the media *before* the battle happens... make sure we pass along as much info as possible to everyone.

I hope the dam upstream is well guarded.

They can blow the dam and try to drown the population and leave the Americans to pick up the pieces. God knows they've had ample time to plan a attack on the dam.

The Iraqi army is not particularly noted for their offense.

The Iraqi Army captured some strategic towns to the south of Mosul a few weeks ago. The Iraqi's and allies own the air.

They will indeed liberate Mosul. A possible problem is the conduct of Shiite irregular forces fighting with the Army.

A post-battle problem is ownership. Mosul lies in the Kurdish north and it's no secret the Kurds want it.
