Russia strikes not targeting Islamic State areas in Syria: U.S. official

Russia needs that port. and they're clearly willing to fight for it. obama has effectively abandoned the free syrian army, if there ever was such a thing, to destruction. now there are two options in syria; a relatively secular, yet brutal, dictatorship, and an islamic-law based caliphate. good job obama, good job putin, another country damned to ****hole status.

And the US needs it's Yemen bases which is why they turned a blind eye to Saudi Arabia invading Yemen in August. But pay not attention to facts.

Except for Socotra Island (Yemen) where the US is building a major Air and Naval base after beating Russia to the punch on the agreement with Yemen.

this is fairly common in Syria where "the enemy of my enemy can still partner on the battlefield'
It doesn't change the Syrian Coalition's ideology..not that I think they have a chance of "secularism" in Syria

According to Agence France-Presse, ISIS and a number of moderate and hard-line rebel groups have agreed not to fight each other so that they can focus on taking down the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Other sources say the signatories include a major U.S. ally linked to the Free Syrian Army

which said parties to the agreement "promise not to attack each other because they consider the principal enemy to be the Nussayri regime." The term Nussayri refers to the Alawite ethnic group that Assad and many of his supporters belong to.
