The secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement confirms that a 6 month truce has been reached in three battlefields in Syria.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah told Al-Manar television that the deal was reached under UN auspices and the mediation of Iran. He said the deal will entail the evacuation of armed and wounded men from the flashpoint town of Zabadani near the capital Damascus. Nasrallah said the move will be in exchange for the evacuation of ten-thousand civilians from the besieged villages of Foua and Kfaryah in the north-western Idlib province. The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the truce was reached between militants, including Ahrar al-Sham, and the Syrian government. Temporary truces agreed previously between the warring parties have often been broken.
