Just another reason for Israel to feel endeared to Iran and their nuclear program :)

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told an annual anti-Israel protest in Tehran on Friday that the Jewish state was a "cancerous tumour" that will soon be excised, drawing a strong US rebuke. US National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told AFP that if Iran was as concerned about human rights as Ahmadinejad said in his speech in support of the Palestinians, then it should stop supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Ahmadinejad's diatribe against Israel in his Quds (Jerusalem) Day address was the latest in a long line to have drawn criticism from Western governments.
"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour," he said.

Israel has been openly threatening Iran with war for so long now, it is only natural that they'd respond.

I can hardly describe the current Iranian leadership being "gentle" or "wonderful" but it doesn't at all mean their comments are coming out of nowhere, Israel is cheerleading openly for war on Iran and is suspected of killing Iranian civilians and launching cyber attacks. Iran's rhetoric is not at all surprising.

Ok I already said you have to be right...those israelis and medicare are at fault...not the iranians :)

Yeah, wanting to wipe a western liberal democracy from the face of the earth is only natural. Replacing it with a 10th century theocracy? Why, that's eco-restoration.

What is natural is that a country repeatedly and openly threatened with war will use such rhetoric. Going around in circles on this is useless.

Oh yah. Makes perfect sense. Threaten to destroy a nation for decades, and when that nation says "you know what, we can't really live with this threat and may need to take action to stop it", you suddently become justified in threatening to destroy that nation because it had the audacity to tell you it will address your threats.

Bizarro world.

Of course, might as well point out that Iran and Israel got along fine before the Mullahs took over, their platform was and always has been to support the elimination of Israel, that Iran has for decades funded terrorism against Israel while making threats to destroy it, and that Israel has no strategic interest in Iran at all and certainly would have bigger fish to fry with its "aggresion" were there not a need to address threats from Iran.

Or, you know, we could just pretend you're right and that Iran's actions and threats were caused by Israeli actions that happened in the future. You know, like how Pearl Harbour was justified because of Hiroshima.

Nonsense. Stop blaming others.

Going around in circles on this is useless.

It's not a circle, it's just you making excuses for the Iranian regime.

Nonsense. Stop blaming others.

Lol, blaming others? am only explaining that it is expected of Iran to use such rhetoric given the fact that Israel has more or less openly declared its intent to start a war with it. And in fact may have already started it with its assassinations of Iranian civilians and its cyber attacks. People at war ****talk! and the OP's opening statement is a joke.

Perhaps the Israelis see Ahmadinejad's "must be wiped off the map" as foreplay.

And I'm telling you that's ridiculous. South Korea is constantly threatened by nK; yet, there's no "we will wipe you out" from sK, is there? India threatens Pakistan and vice-versa... no threats of "wipe out". Columbia and Venezuela, FARC? No "wipe out" comments from either side.

Fact of the matter is, the Iranian regime (and nK) is the only one acting in such an insane manner. And there is no excuse for it, even "the Jews".

Both sides as bad each other. People's support for one side based on cultural and religious prejudices. People blinded to their own bias and bigotry. ect ect blah blah blah

I don't think I'll bother with this section.

That's a complete wipe out in the knowledge and morality department.
See CJ's posts on the last page or at least address them before making utterly uninformed declarations.
Not "bothering" with this section is an Excellent idea if you dont know the issues and worse, cant even address them when posted.

Most people don't. Welcome to DP.

I'm sure your uninformed 'non-opinion' that everyone is a terrorist will be sorely missed.

Is that the last time or this time? I was wondering how long until this was another "mistranslation".

Perhaps someone could properly translate this:

"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour," he said.

"The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.

'Cause I sure would hate good ol' Adinnerjacket to be the unfortunate victim of bad translation - again.

LOLZ. This was the original time Ahmadinejad was accused of saying that Israel "must be wiped off the map." In OP he stated no such thing.

So, what do you make of this:

"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour," he said.

"The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said...

Demonstrators held up Palestinian flags and pictures of Khomeini's successor as Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and banners reading "Death to Israel" and "Death to America."...

Ahmadinejad, in his speech, claimed that "Zionists" triggered World Wars I and II, and had "taken control over world affairs since the moment they became dominant over the US government."

Is that mistranslated? What about the holocaust denial, also mistranslation?

Threatening language yes, but when I said in the OP he stated no such thing, I meant that he did not state word for word that Israel must be wiped off the map and I proved you to be incorrect in that that assumption.

I never stated that what was said in the OP was mistranslated or that the Holocause denial was mistranslated.

Wrong, I never assumed that was a word for word exactly perfect translation including cultural cues and traditional overtures.. But I think it gathers the gist of it - and I think he's basically said it again.

I never stated that what was said in the OP was mistranslated or that the Holocause denial was mistranslated.

And do you find his rhetoric in any way inappropriate?

I find it more than inappropriate, I find it foolish and ignorant as not only is it hurting relations between Israel and Iran, but such language is also playing into the hands of those in the US and Israel who want to go to war with Iran.
