Let's consider for a second that this is not a hoax. Some dickhead in Morocco came up with this bullshlukh which is not applied in Morocco by the way. Now supposedly the Egyptian Islamists have proposed these same laws. Do you believe that a people who only recently toppled a dictator is going to sit still and accept this kind of horror to be passed ?

And let's just play the devil's advocate and believe that the laws will pass, do you imagine Egyptians all over the country will jump to have sex with their dead wives ?

As for the age of marriage, in many parts of the world, the age of consentment is as low as 13,14 even at puberty. In France for example it's 15. Of course in our standards we would like to see young girls get educated and to chose their husbands and so do much of the Egyptians. Even if such a law passes in Egypt (which will no), do you imagine that millions of Egyptian men are going to marry 14 year-olds and oblige them to bear children and die in the delivery process ?

This kind of horse manure only serves to dehumanise the Egyptian society and the fact that it spread all over the Internet at the speed of lightning says a lot.

I see that its a taboo and that's why its banned but I don't think being a taboo by itself is that good of an argument for making it illegal, is there anything else that is illegal in the US because most people think its disgusting?, am not saying we should respect every other culture and what they hold sacred, but we should respect someone's rights as a rule of thumb when its consensual and doesn't hurt anybody else, the comparison with sex with animals doesn't hold, just like pedophilia and incest this has rational arguments against it, basically an animal just like a child cannot give consent and cannot pick up a phone and say am being raped or abused sexually, its a matter of animal rights not because its taboo.

As I said before there are no objective moral values, there was a recent thread about American soldiers pissing and taking pictures with human corpses. Other cultures eat human flesh and so on..
I'll quote to you Sgtrock from that thread, he was one of four on the first 2 pages (I think) who supported their action, and one even said he'd do much worse if it was him.

I lold when I read the official line about how they respectfully buried Bin Laden at sea, they much more likely held a pissing contest over his body (and I can't say am disgusted because his corpse is supposedly sacred)
Not only there aren't objective moral values, There is nothing sacred and honorable about death, it is testament to our failure as human beings.
Its a disease that I hope will be recognized as such during my own lifetime, right now its not that big of a field but I definitely see it growing, maybe one day I'll be able to get a "regenerative medicine" fellowship.
