Israeli-Palestinian Conflict - Torpedoing the Two State Solution Israeli Settlements

Re: Israeli-Palestinian Conflict - Torpedoing the Two State Solution Israeli Settleme

JERUSALEM, Oct. 29, 1959 (JTA) –
(Well I sure didn't know that.. Why build a pipeline when the refineries are right on Haifa Bay?)

By that time, an increasing share of Israel's oil imports were coming from Iran and Eilat made economic sense. Haifa had developed into a leading economic center much earlier than Eilat had. Hence, the refineries were located in Haifa. However, the shipping costs of sending the oil around the Cape of Good Hope would have been far greater than the costs involved of bringing the oil to Eilat and then piping it to Haifa for refining. As Eilat developed, it made sense for Eilat to become the principal port through which Israel imported crude oil.

I had forgotten that Iran sold oil to Israel up until 1979... So yes a pipeline to Haifa from Eliat makes perfect sense.

Yes.. if they were hardheaded or hard hearted they would want all the land that was taken in 1948.

When Golde Meir and that bunch used to quip.. a people without land for a land without people.. they were in effect saying.. that Palestinian Muslims and Christians had no standing, were not considered human... In the meantime, 400 Arab villages were looted and leveled.

Confusing, isn't it?

No its not confusing at all, you say recognition of the right of Israel to exist is a concession by the Arabs that Israel should grab no mater what.
Using the same logic we can argue that the Palestinians should have grabbed numerous offers of Israel to found a Palestinian state in parts of the west bank including Barak's offer way back in 2000 as it was a huge concession by the party who used to say there is no such thing as Palestinians.

Recognition requires borders.. and Israel keeps moving theirs..

Barak's offer was high farce.. You can't have a contiguous state with a bunch of disconnected bantustans.. Barak knew exactly what he was offering and why it couldn't possibly be accepted.

I keep hoping I'll read a response from Goshin, but the thread has merely broken down to two posters. Darn! Maybe next time Goshin.

Well, what do you think? I think a change in strategy might be a good thing after 7 decades.

I think, sharon, that you and I mostly agree on this issue (though I haven't done a thorough reading of all your posts to determine where our discrepancies lie).

I'm cautious as to the viewpoints I express on this forum. I already have 10 infraction points and I don't want to be banned (and frankly, even after reading the rules, I don't know what's acceptable and what's not).

I don't either.. There seems to be a lot of play in the rules.

Ah so you finally understand the Israeli view on the Saudi peace offer and why there is no real concession by the Arabs in it.

Problem is that I know the Sudeiri Seven and their 70 year track record.. and I know they mean what they say and are trustworthy.
