Your classification of Tea Party values was great too. Although I am a devout Christian, I do not agree with the infusion of religious values that is occuring with the Tea Party. That's not what the Tea Party is about. Sure, most Tea Partiers turned out to be Christians. However, Christians should also remember that judging people and saying their sin is worse than their own is against every tenant of being a Christian. Yes, being gay is a sin IMO. Drinking in excess is as well. But a supposed "Tea Partier" will be the first to get hammered ON SUNDAY at a NASCAR race.
Great book to read about SF selection is called "Chosen Soldier". Not only informative but a GREAT read. Really captures the stress and urgency of what those guys go through.
The post you linked was great. The article, not so much. A lot of politicians misunderstand the length of time and type of human being you need to make a Special Forces serviceman. For instance, your typical SF soldier or "Green Beret" must go through 2 weeks of Assessment and Selection. IF you pass that, its on to the 9 months basic skills course or "Q" course. After that you have 55 to 95 weeks of the "Q" course and your specific job training. After all that time, you get a basically trained SF guy. And the thing is, if he's hurt or fails any portion of the aforementioned training, he's done. It's easy for politicians to sit back and say "Yeah, just throw more SF at them. They're awesome!". Every single department in Special Operations Command to include the command itself will tell you that you can't speed up the process, ease the selection, or push guys through any branches SF training. It just doesn't work. You get a faulty product at the end.
