A high-school student was charged yesterday in a murder-robbery scheme that authorities say used a craigslist ad to lure two men to Noble County, where freshly dug graves awaited them.
Meanwhile, the man who friends say was the teen’s mentor is sitting in jail under a $1 million bond, although authorities haven’t yet charged him in the scheme.
The body of what is likely a Florida man was unearthed this week from a shallow grave in a remote area of Noble County, where investigators found a second grave they believe was intended for a man who escaped his assailants but took a bullet in the arm.

16-year-old charged in shooting | The Columbus Dispatch

The 16 year old is reported to have conspired with an adult to place ads in Craigslist, designed to lure men to a remote part of Noble County, with job offers. Once there, the men were shot at -- one killed, one injured. A Florida man's remains have been found in a shallow grave and a South Carolina man escaped with a gunshot wound to the arm. The motive seems to have been robbery.

This is such a depraved series of crimes...the DA has moved to have the 16 year tried as an adult, which is justice in my eyes.

I think we're far too trusting of Craig's List advertisers. It's a great place to "mine" for criminal activities. I put an ad in Craig's List that we wanted a little kitten. Within 10 minutes, I had a call on my cell; and after a few emails back and forth, went over to this young mom's house to pick up Bob-Bob. Tom and I went together; she was alone in the house with her three toddlers; it was night-time. She had absolutely no idea who we were...yet she let us into her home and greeted us as friends. (We were, though she had no way of knowing that.) I've often thought about that...

I don't trust cable repair guys I let into my home. Or anyone else. Always make sure Tom stops by (he's always out/about in his taxi) -- or that I call him on the phone in the guy's presence and tell him to stop in.

Why would anyone meet total strangers "in a remote area?" People think they're invincible. Especially guys. They're not.

I definitely agree with this. I really do like craigslist. It's a great place to find cheap stuff you might need or get rid of some things you've got cluttering up your house, but you have to be careful. My wife and I always arrange to meet people from craigslist during daylight hours in a public place. That cuts out the potential for a lot of problems right there.

I have a very heavy, very expensive cast iron bed frame I'd love to get rid of, and my brother wanted me to put it on Craigslist.

No way. I am not letting strangers into my house.

I feel so awful for the Florida man and his family....desperate for work, even on a farm, driving thousands of miles just to be murdered for whatever he might could have had on him.

And if the South Carolina man had not escaped, who knows how many this kid and his adult accomplice might have killed?
