Uniformed Police Officer Refused Service at Texas Wendy's

I remember reading awhile back that they are not legally bound. If I can find that article again I will link it to you.

EDIT: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_v._District_of_Columbia

Here is the court case

So clearly not always - though this wasn't an SC case so the applicability is limited. I wonder if the analysis changes if the police witness the crime first hand. If a cop sees someone being murdered does he have a duty to intervene or can he wait, for example, for backup?

I wasn't paying attention and thought that first link was a SC case, this was a SC case from 2005

Here is the article I was referring too.

The results of these cases reinforce my belief that in most situations, we have to be responsible for our own safety. Get a gun and learn to shoot it. The bastards who raped and terrorized those women in that old case could never have done any of it, if the woman they broke in on early that morning had taken aim and put a couple bullets in their chests. I would guess that rampaging and mayhem are not nearly such a high old time, when your intended victim suddenly turns a gun on you.
