This guy helped himself to $1.6 million in gold that was sitting on the back of an armored car in NYC last week.

Talk about a get rich quick scheme. Bada bing de boo.

I think it's an inside job. The armored car company is now screaming, "argh where's me gold!"

Thoughts?

well our great country was founded upon capitalism. this bright young man took advantage of the market and made himself a pretty penny.

1.6 million is a lotta clams!

This is more of a case of socialism at work; take money from other people and redistribute the wealth to non English speakers

No way, has to be fake.

Put out an award and someone will turn that guy in.

So gold is like 1,178.50/ounce. If that container had 1.6 million dollars worth of gold, it would be almost 85 pounds. Not the most ridiculous thing out there, but that guy ran pretty quick for carrying an extra 85 pounds around.

Yeah, pretty sure you're right. Inside man and outside man, planned this ahead of time most likely.

I dunno. I think my plan might have included a car for the getaway, or at least a dolly\cart of some sort.

We see him stop and rest before he's made it very far at all.

Seems spontaneous to me.

Duuno if it was an inside job or not,,

85# is about my limit that I allow myself to lift,, But I bet I could move pretty fast if I had that pot-o-gold..

If I was going to do a major crime,, that would be the one,, you might get caught,, but if you did not,, and you were smart,, your set for life..

The driver said he left the rear door open as he went to the cab to get his cellphone, and right at that moment the guy snatched the gold. Too much of a coincidence IMO.

Where do you think he will be able to exchange the gold for actual money?

Nowhere.

Nowhere.

I can't remember the amount but many years ago I remember reading about someone who stole a large bag of nothing but nickels from an armored truck. It was thousands of dollar's worth of nickels.

Pretty funny actually.

Hey, I'm practically a toothpick, and I can cover ground fairly quickly when I'm carrying a 50-pound bag of corn. I'm pretty sure a fully grown man with actual muscle mass can cover a lot of ground with 85 pounds of early retirement south of the border, with all the cocaine his liver can handle.

Depends on how he does it and well there are a lot of shady people out here that won't care.
10k or less at a time and no one will notice.
