Sources: SA cop fired for feeding fecal sandwich to homeless person

Sources: SA cop fired for feeding fecal sandwich to homeless person - San Antonio Express-News

I think this pretty handily negates a couple of those feel good cop stories

Make sure that you ignore this part:
“This was a vile and disgusting act that violates our guiding principles of ‘treating all with integrity, compassion, fairness and respect,’ Chief William McManus said in a prepared statement. “The fact that his fellow officers were so disgusted with his actions that they reported him to Internal Affairs demonstrates that this type of behavior will never be tolerated. The action of this one former officer in no way reflects the actions of all the other good men and women who respectfully serve this community.”

... and this part:
The alleged incident occurred in May, when Officer Matthew Luckhurst, a five-year veteran of the department, bragged to a fellow officer that “he had picked up some feces, placed it in a slice of bread, and put it in a Styrofoam container next to the unknown homeless male,” according to a press release from the chief’s office. “The officer reported that he told Luckhurst to go back and throw it away. The officer said he saw Luckhurst go back and he assumed that Luckhurst discarded the container.”

So instead of these things stopping they'll just be reported more often (lol) that's real comforting to the guy who ate a **** sandwich

READ!! The officer didn't feed it to the guy, he put it in a styrofoam box and set it next to him. Reprehensible and deserving of getting fired and possible criminal charges, but so far there's no proof that he ate it. In fact, he was told to go back dispose of the container. Those of us who look at this honestly and objectively don't know one way or the other if the homeless guy ate the sandwich or if the officer truly did dispose of it. You'd rather push a narrative that sounds like the officer handed the guy the sandwich and the homeless guy sat there and ate it. We don't know the full story, so maybe you should back up a bit a stick to the facts instead of the hyperbole.

Whether he ate it or not was that not the intended outcome the officer wanted, you know, according to what he did? Oh yeah and bravo to the fellow officer for telling him to throw it out and not making sure he did lmao

How do you know that the officer wanted him to eat it?? Most people can smell **** and most likely the officer was looking for a reaction when the guy opened the box, not to trick him into eating the sandwich. Or do you think that homeless people are all so stupid that they can't tell what **** smells like??

For all the trouble of smearing **** on bread he could have just **** in the box. but he took it an even grosser step forward. if that doesn't even make you think possibly that he intended to have the homeless person eat it I don't know what to tell you

I think it's appalling to put **** on a sandwich. From a culinary standpoint, I only like my doo doo on a stick.

These were legit defenses of the police community.

This was ridiculous hair-splitting apologism. You should have quit while you were ahead.

So do you think that homeless people are so stupid that if you set a box next to them, they would eat it without noticing the smell? That they would just gobble up anything put next to them??? This whole story andhow it's being presented represents such massive bigotry that I'm stunned. You assume that homeless people are idiots, you assume that LE are vicious brutes, you assume that people are so stupid that they'll just accept the narrative being pushed without asking intelligent questions.

As far as apologizing is concerned, apparently you missed the part where I said "Reprehensible and deserving of getting fired and possible criminal charges"

No. You assume that I assume. Your apologism took the tone as any charges being lessened because he may not have force fed it to the person. The homeless person is somewhat irrelevant here, it's all on the cop. Who the eff even does something like that, and for what purpose other than some form of insidious result? Given your wildest imagination, can you come up with any point the cop might have had to make it even remotely acceptable or justifiable?

What did you think the Police Chief was supposed to say publicly ... Good Job ! Keep feeding the homeless scat sandwiches ?

I take it you have a problem with cops. I'm sure there is no shortage of cops acting badly; there are a few assholes in any group of people. This does not reflect badly on the whole group. In fact, what we see here is that cops don't tolerate such people.

Of course they tolerate bad behavior in general. (this is an extreme example but I am sure it got a few laughs... in private .... followed by -what an idiot for getting caught)

The context in which the "A Few Bad Apples" apology is made is abject nonsense. The police are not on some pedestal of virtue and moral integrity.

People in general are self serving, ignorant, nasty, corruptible, irritable, selfish, controlling .. and so on. Police are people.

That is reality ... just simple fact.

The problem in our society today is not so much the Police themselves but the Gov't which has been trampling on the constitution and the principles this nation was founded. Every time the Gov't makes another law that tramples on individual liberty the number of times Police officers are put at odds with "We the People" is going to increase.

This is going to create conflict and animosity. As individual liberty is trampled on and Police powers increase there is going to be problems.

Power corrupts and more power corrupts more. The more power that is given to police the more it is going to be abused .... Police are just people.

This abuse is going to come down more on the powerless (minorities and disadvantaged)
