I've dealt with these scum up close and personal for years........... and still do when I run them out of my neighborhood.

There are many uninhabited islands around the world. I say you should get together with all your buddies and give them a one time donation of an island, beef, pigs, sheep and fresh fruits and veggies....and seed and tools to grow their own crops. They can fend for themselves just like people did 500 years ago...when they traveled the world looking for a better place to live.

They didn't all get massive handouts and tons of empathy!

I live in a small town and it too is well known by street people. They all have cell phones and a network up and down the entire West Coast. I hear them talking..."come to XXXXXXXX, Or. they have many services and the police are few."
They are charmers, con men and women, manipulating society for the Freebies. They have abused their bodies for years with substance abuse or poor hygiene. They are lazy, ignorant, undisciplined and can't, or won't hold a job. They are not productive members of society...they are Leeches on society and always will be! Sure there are exceptions, but damn few!

The only thing produced is the harassment of women walking through town, harassment of children, loitering, burglaries, thefts, panhandling, filth, foul language and a stench!!!!

They are a BLIGHT on the American landscape and we don't owe them a damn thing! Why don't we?

Because a majority of them haven't earned it. And those who pump them up, are fools and idiots!

So, if you think the system is underfunded, by all means do like Faithful Servant's local and start a private shelter system of your own. Perhaps you could solicit donations from other like minded individuals and build more than one. Just leave mo out of the loop.

Or...since obviously private donations don't do it, and there's still a problem. Instead of ignoring the problem, or treating the homeless like something less than human, we do our moral obligations to our neighbors and fellow man, and create the structures that can better care for these people.

It's not a crutch, it just means understanding the humanity of others, and not trying to "drive them off" instead of helping.

I don't believe your first statement. Given your arguments across this site, it seems obvious that you don't quite grasp that humans are human. You even went so far as to call them vermin in this very thread. So...pretty well shoots the argument that you understand the concept right in the foot.

Not all of them are stupid, lazy, or criminals. While criminal behavior can be properly punished, end of the day, these people are still human and human life has innate value. So the why is because they are human and they deserve to be treated with some amount of dignity, the same as anyone else.

SSI for bogus emotional disabilities, food stamps for deadbeats, medicaid cards for deadbeats, subsidized housing, shelters for deadbeats. If the deadbeats are productive enough to have kids that opens up another world a ADC and other benefits. If you can get your kids to pretend they're ADHD or Aspberger's Syndrome you hook into SSI and parents can get other cash benefits a caretakers.

I know it's hard to believe but there was a time when most of those people would be working. True, they wouldn't be brain surgeons or bank presidents but they would be working and supporting themselves.

I'm not willing to do more of the same to "fix" a problem when by your own admission it hasn't wotked in the past and the problem is bigger than ever.

I never said all of them and I was very clear about how I worded it! But a good number of them are criminals, junkies and vermin.....They look human and talk human but are deplorable humans. Hillary got the word right, she just misapplied it. I have met hundreds of so called humans that have no innate value whatsoever and are worthless scum! I doubt that you have met any of those.

Very well stated and all true.

Formerly productive people in society, that did not receive handouts from government...actually had to bear down and work to survive. Now, we have a legion of leeches on govt. and especially the taxpayers.
Why work when there are so many "do gooder, bleeding heart" libs out there, that will give you anything you want.

Olympia is far into the process of killing our downtown by refusing to deal with the vagrants problem. It was only after business started to clear out after hanging on patiently for years that anyone even began to talk seriously about doing something, but once you (F) get to that point there tends to be not enough money available to do anything.
