NEW JERSEY (FOX5NY) - A pipe bomb found in a trash can near a New Jersey train station exploded early Monday as a bomb squad was attempting to disarm it with a robot, officials said.

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said that the FBI was working to disarm one of five devices found in the same bag, which was discovered in a trash can by two homeless men around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, near the Elizabeth train station on New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor rail line. The men had reported seeing wires and a pipe coming out of the package, Bollwage said.

You know, my first thought on this was:

All members of society, even those at the fringes, always have at least something they can contribute.

Because in real life, I've found that virtually everyone has at least one pearl of wisdom or truth worth knowing.

But as an aside: Sometimes when you have little or nothing, you can better discern the real from the bull****.

When the money's flowing, you're surrounded by good-time Charlies & materialistic trappings, and everything is going beyond good, it can be easy to get carried away with yourself and lose track of what's really important.

But when you're down and out, you can better appreciate the things that are important to you - because you don't take things for granted.
