American woman jailed for 'insulting' United Arab Emirates

Now *that*, is an interesting sequence of events!

And it goes on.
There has been a demonstration in front of the Turkish embassy where activists were carrying posters with quotes from the comedians verse. A court has forbidden the quotes in public. It is not a statement on the legality of the comedian's criminal charges as they were made in one context, while the demonstration is in a different one that might be deemed more insulting.

You guys are making the terrible assumption of proper treatment and sense of justice in the western government style sense.

Neither exists in the UAE (and just about everywhere else in the Middle East.)

The exception is, of course, Israel.
