Absolutely outrageous. That child must have been covered by technicolor bruises over half of her body. A grown man, whaling on a disabled child and using the "f" word over and over again as he verbally abuses and berates her. Then the bullying prick has the gall to say, "It wasn't as bad as it looked."

I hope he's disbarred and prevented from ever having contact with a child again. Dispicable.

When things like this comes up, previous cases handled by such judges should be reviewed. God knows whether he made proper judgement on other cases of child abuse. He still defended himself, which suggests he doesn't think that constitute child abuse, and if so, he could have let many abusers off the hook due to his irrational world view.

Well, that made my blood pressure rise. I kept yelling at the monitor "kick him in the balls!" and when dear ol mom told her to roll over and take it like an adult, I was screaming "kick her in the face!".

With that said...I also wonder about the silence after he left the room. She didn't seem too upset. The belt welts should have been burning by then. Continued crying maybe. It seemed a bit "staged". Yes, I am betting it hurt and yes, he should be barred from ever judging again and both he and his wife should be arrested for child abuse. But I also think the kid needs to be investigated as well. Something isn't right about the whole video.

Don't get me wrong, the Judge seems to be a real jerk, but I've had my ass whooped way harder for a lot less. Like, getting a B on a report card or voicing my own opinion.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Yeah, i was spanked as a child - when I was about 4 and because I was being a naughty, defiant little sh*t. Whipping your 16 year old daughter with a belt for downloading music is not "tough love". It's sadism.

Totally agree. I thought, "Not only a judge, but a family court judge dealing with abuse cases. "

Re: Texas Judge Beats His Disabled Daughter - YouTube

Good people, I called the Texas Bar's Chief Disciplinary Committee regarding child torturer and Aransas County Family Court Judge William Adams. The Disciplinary Committee in turn referred me to the Texas Judicial Standards Committee. Their telephone number is 877-288-5750.

Texas state law prevents the members of the judicial committee from commenting, even so much as admitting that they have opened an investigation on Adams. So, when you call -- as I hope you will -- bear in mind, they can listen to you but they cannot respond.

The Judicial Committee's website links to a statement they have released on Adams:

    http://www.scjc.texas.gov/pdf/PublicStatement.pdf

I emphasized two things in my telephone call: first, Adams should be on leave. Paid or not, he should not be on the bench today -- and he is. Second, every American has an interest in the appropriate handling of misconduct or criminal activity by judges anywhere in America, and NOTHING undercuts the public's confidence in our legal system more than this.

PLEASE consider taking a few minutes to call.....if the Committee receives dozens (or better yet, hundreds) of such calls, I feel they will act. If we are all quiet, I am not so sure they will.

Goddamn, am I angry. A child torturer as a family court judge.....that absolutely tops anything I have ever seen regarding corruption in the legal system in my entire career.

Again, the Texas Judicial Standards Committee telephone number is 877-288-5750. Please also consider sharing this information on facebook, Google+ or anywhere else you may be online.

Thankies in advance, and God bless everyone who chooses to call.

In an interview with KZTV outside his Rockport, Texas, home Wednesday, Adams confirmed to a reporter that he was the man beating his daughter with a belt and a board on the video, taped in 2004.

"She's mad because I've ordered her to bring the car back, in a nutshell, but yeah, that's me. I lost my temper," Adams told the TV station. "Her mother was there, she wasn't hurt ... it was a long time ago ... I really don't want to get into this right now because as you can see my life's been made very difficult over this child."

Adams continued: "In my mind I have not done anything wrong other than discipline my child when she was caught stealing. I did lose my temper, I've apologized. It looks worse than it is."

Speaking via phone to Texas television station KRIS, a woman who identified herself as Hillary Adams, the daughter in the video, said she posted the video, and criticized her father for "making light of the situation."

"I just can't believe he would say something like, he doesn't think it's a big deal," she said.

She told KRIS she set up the camera to record the incident seven years ago, but waited for "the right time" to release the video.

"Waiting this long to publish it has enabled me to look at it with hindsight and not be so caught up in the passion of the moment," Hillary Adams said. "I think we do, my mother and I, we do need to try to move on past the anger and just concentrate on getting counseling and help."

Receiving an outpouring of support after posting the video has been like a form of therapy, she told KRIS, which is based in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Hillary Adams has cerebral palsy, which makes her prone to seizures. That beating -- which was only one of many routinely inflicted on her -- could very easily have been fatal.

Good for you, Pinkie. I can't dial that number from IL -- I'll try to find another one. BUT I think we can all rest assured that this guy is toast. They're talking to him right now about resigning... (IMO)

No, I know where you're coming from. Keep in mind that this young woman has already had a plague of locusts descend on her with having MS. And keep in mind the sadistic nature in which it was done. Momma had ta' git her licks in, too. Also, don't judge the harshness of this incident based on the fact that you yourself with abused. A switch is one thing and even that is wrong...gads the guy even went and got a stiffer belt. When you have children and look in your little daughter's eyes, you will never imagine beating her in this fashion. It's wrong.
