Man Seeking to Have Casey Anthony Tried in Federal Court

    http://www.change.org/petitions/lets...-federal-court

The gentleman references the "Dual Sovereignty Doctrine", which states:
Dual sovereignty is a legal doctrine holding that more than one sovereign (e.g. a state government and the Federal government) may prosecute an individual without violating the prohibition against double jeopardy if the individual's act breaks the laws of each sovereignty
So what do you think? Should they try this?

"Because I didn't like the outcome of the case" is not a valid reason to try and get around double jeopardy. Dual sovereignty only is acceptable if the crime has both state and federal implications. AFAIK, nothing in the Anthony case warrants federal involvement.

What Federal crime does he assert she has committed? As far as I know, none of the crimes she was charged with is a Federal offense.

I think he's of the impression that homicide is a federal crime as much as it is a state or local crime.

She has been acquitted, its over. Trying her in federal court would be trying her for the same crime twice and it would be a waste of money since I do not think the feds would have any better evidence than what the state and local law enforcement had.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

For the record, the FBI performed almost all of the forensic testing involved in the Casey Anthony case. The only exceptions were Caylee's autopsy and the decom testing done by the "Body Farm", which is government sponsored.

Casey lied to an FBI investigator and said her daughter was alive etc. These lies are different to what she was charged by the state

Casey lied about the whereabouts of Caylee and that she was dead to an FBI investigator during interrogations

Nope. They had their day in court, she was found not-guilty on most charges (except lying to the police). That's it. There's no more chances, State or Federal.
