U.S. Abstains as U.N. Security Council Votes to Condemn Israeli Settlements

Are any settlements in the WB illegal international law??

It would seem the UN is trying to suggest that. It would seem Obama agrees. I believe the UN is corrupt, and I believe the Palestinians have no basis for their argument.

Not what I asked.
Pretty simple question.

WTH Janfu?.

I don't believe any settlements are against international law. I thought I made that rather clear.

You are wrong
I can set my watch to how long it takes for you to reply.

Only there is a resolution, passed way back for 2 States.

Why the snark Janfu? I guess that's how you role. Not interested.

Merry Christmas.

Not meant to be snarky. Just an old line.

Doesn't speak to the continued expansion of settlements and acquiring additional land, or does it?

Last I checked its on their land that Palestinians lost.

Trump’s foray into FP, calling the Egyptian PM who withdrew the motion, well it backfired.
Problem is he thinks he is already President.

enjoyed seeing the white house comment: "we only have one president at a time"

In fact, he is acting like the kind of person he is. But it is true that Obama doing some of the things he is doing in spite of the fact that many will be reversed, will harm the country in many ways.

can't unring this bell

I thought it was land the JORDANIANS lost. When did Palesinians throw out Jordon from the West Bank?

True. There is damage you can only work around. The damage from having to do so, I should say is just the kind harm Obama is doing us.

i prefer to think of it as the good he has done the Palestinians
in no small part his embarrassing bibi before the international forum

Turning into a dogfight that does not serve US interests

“There’s one president at a time,” said Benjamin J. Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser. “There’s a principle here that the world understands who is speaking for the United States until January 20th, and who is speaking for the United States after January 20th.”

What bell? Condemning the settlements? Please.

I guess you would like to see the Western Wall a Juden Free zone. Lets see if Kerry/Obama can make this happen before before Jan 20th. Or will we have to wait for a new Democrat administration.

exposing settlements upon the land of another to be a violation of international law

bibbi's furious response to the UN's resolution illustrates how significant this condemnation was

I wish I knew better, what Obama wants to achieve in the Middle East. It hasn't really made very much sense to me, but I cannot believe that he was as planless as it appeared.

I have to admit I know next to nothing about Isreal/Palestine but Ben Shapiro goes into a pretty in depth timeline of the Obama administration and what he feels they were trying to do the last 8 years in his last podcast.

On the one president at a time thing, it is kind of hard for Trump to stay out of it when the PM of Isreal calls and asks for assistance. I personally don't see why they abstained given the timeline of events , it was pretty obvious this was planned and executed by Obama.

Anyone who thinks this resolution changes the trajectory or narrative of the conflict is an ideologue with way too much emotional skin exposed to be thinking clearly.

What? I don't understand your post.

I'm sure many of you have heard the claim that Jewish communities in Judea Samaria, the West Bank, are an obstacle to peace.

I've always been perplexed by this notion.

Because no one would seriously claim that the nearly two million Arabs living inside Israel – that they're an obstacle to peace. That's because they aren't. On the contrary.

Israel's diversity shows its openness and readiness for peace. Yet the Palestinian leadership actually demands a Palestinian state with one pre-condition: No Jews.

There's a phrase for that: It's called ethnic cleansing.

And this demand is outrageous.

It's even more outrageous that the world doesn't find this outrageous. Some otherwise enlightened countries even promote this outrage.

Ask yourself this: Would you accept ethnic cleansing in your state? A territory without Jews, without Hispanics, without blacks?

Since when is bigotry a foundation for peace?

At this moment, Jewish schoolchildren in Judea Samaria are playing in sandboxes with their friends.
Does their presence make peace impossible?

I don’t think so.

I think what makes peace impossible is intolerance of others. Societies that respect all people are the ones that pursue peace. Societies that demand ethnic cleansing don't pursue peace.

I envision a Middle East where young Arabs and young Jews learn together, work together, live together side by side in peace.

Our region needs more tolerance, not less.

So the next time you hear someone say Jews can't live somewhere, let alone in their ancestral homeland, take a moment to think of the implications.

Ethnic cleansing for peace is absurd.

It's about time somebody said it.

I just did.
Benjamin Netanyahu

It is quite clear that he did not like the West Bank settlements and wanting them stopped might make sense. I do not see it as a good way to go about peace in the area nor the strategy behind it.

Obama is both a completely inept negotiator and the most ardent opponent of Israel to serve in the White House.

If he not both of these, then this action makes no sense.

If he is both of these, then this action is not only logical, it's demanded.

So, we are left with the options that Obama is either antisemitic and incapable of negotiating with the Israelis or that he is a Pro-Israel and utterly inept in supporting Israel's interests.

Either way, he's a weak weasel who is once again endangering people by voting "present".

i believe this forecasts the UN's inclination to soon recognize the sovereign nation of Palestine; to complete and fulfill the Palestine Mandate, which obligation was passed from the League of Nations to the UN
