In an interview on Hamas’s Al-Aqsa TV, Dr. Subhi Al-Yaziji, ‘, declared that “The Jews of Palestine are fair game today — even the women.” He claimed that “every single Jew in Palestine is a combatant — even the children,” and said Israelis “breastfeed them on hatred for the Palestinian people.”

The cognitive dissonance and projection here beggar belief. We know who has been "breastfed on hatred" (and ironically enough we are witnessing yet another "feeding" right here).

But the world will go on pretending this isn't the steady message that is fed to the Palestinians or otherwise we will pretend that these messages have no effect or otherwise we will pretend that the fact these messages exist are the Jews' fault anyways. But in all cases we will continue to condemn the Jews if they try to protect themselves from the violence this clown and those like him are inciting.

Oh, and just to remind the class, this guy is the DEAN OF GAZA UNIVERSITY...[/FONT]

Palestinian incitement (which motivates the attacks), culture (which celebrates the attackers) and leadership (which does both).

But underlying all of them continues to be the core rejectionist element of the Palestinian national identity, which allows the Palestinians to continue to view its leadership, culture and incitement as completely justified in their continued fight against making peace with the Jews. Combine that with the conspiracy mindset and the willingness to believe transparent propaganda (the Jews are coming, the Jews are coming, protect al aqsa...) and we have a recipe for the Palestinians refusing to negotiate for years and then, when refusing to compromise doesn't get them what they want, they turn to the natural alternative - murdering people.

In some way this is our fault in Israel for not treating this problem of Palestinian incitement with every bit of seriousness and recognizing its immense threat. This death culture has been existing before Israel was even established and the promotion of the murder of innocents in Palestinian society has been massive throughout the entire time yet only now when it became a reality that an endless amount of brainwashed youth are waking up every morning and deciding to murder and kill Jews to receive Allah's favor and become "sha'ids" and heroes to the Paelstinian society we understand the effect of this deeply rooted incitement. Israel should have arrested people who incite the masses decades ago, including the Islamic Movement within Israel itself and the various Palestinian Authority leaders who call for such killings.

Sort of. This is partly by design of Arab leadership (recall the Arab leadership purposely maintained a large "Palestinian refugee" population and continues to do so today to ensure that they have a good stock of angry young men to use to continue to pressure Israel about its existence.

But big picture your statement confounds cause and effect. It is their culture, which drives aggression and rejectionism, the celebration of terrorist violence, their "honour culture" that refuses to see compromise as anything other than an admission of weakness, which causes them to maintain their statelessness.

They could have had a state 15 years ago. Maybe not as perfect as in their dreams, maybe not as free of Jews as they would have wanted, but sovereign independence in their own territory (which of course would have invariably been completely mismanaged and dysfunctional, but that's besides the point). But their culture and their leadership could not stomach that sort of compromise, so instead they gleefully embraced an onslaught targeting Jewish civilians, and they celebrated after every Jewish child was successfully murdered.

That's not desparation and that's not hopelessness. That's sick, twisted, perverted culture and THAT'S why they don't have and will not have independence in the foreseeable future.
