| Georgian authority misuses money given by the US! After US ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues Clint Williamson visited the Georgian city of Gori that was ruined during the active hostilities in South Ossetia, he said that the States would allocate US$1 bln (that's hell of a sum!) for restoration of Georgian villages and cities that came to harm during the warfare. It is remarkable in this regard that the mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava even promised to remit US$150 mln allotted by the US for restoration of Tbilisi, to help Gori restore before it is too cold. This act of good will of Ugulava was quite understandable. It is known that many nurseries, schools and other educational institutions in Tbilisi are occupied by refugees who had left their homes in villages near the border with South Ossetia. Understandably, that should be Ugulava's task of prime importance to help these people return to their homes asap. And yet, now it has been found that Ugulava has second thoughts for the money provided by Americans. It will be spent for construction of a high-tony 5-star hotel on the Rustavely str. in Tbilisi! Besides that, there will be a dozen or so of new inns constructed that Tbilisi is said to need badly. I wonder is that really a rational use of our money! So many Georgian villagers are in terrible position right now and their homes have been ruined when winter is approaching! What's the sense spending the money for a hotel!? I think that Bush administration should understand that the money this country gives to Georgia is misused! |
