Inside Facebook, the work to enter China runs far deeper.

The social network has quietly developed software to suppress posts from appearing in people’s news feeds in specific geographic areas, according to three current and former Facebook employees, who asked for anonymity because the tool is confidential. The feature was created to help Facebook get into China, a market where the social network has been blocked, these people said. Mr. Zuckerberg has supported and defended the effort, the people added.

I don't get worked up over Facebook, I just refuse to have anything to do with it.

What I do get worked up about is a liberal like Zuckerberg, selling his soul to the devil to make a buck.....and to Hell with human rights violations and freedom!

Those who misdirect the conversation by pointing to Facebook, instead of the real problem...deserve neither liberty or security.!

You should be condemning Trump for the same crimes, but far, far worse, but you won't. And, as you've made clear in the past, you care nothing for human rights.

I think that if you're not okay with it you shouldn't give them your patronage. And Trump chose to move his manufacturing to China. Are you okay with that?

What manufacturing? I ask because few of his companies actually produce anything, he provides services for the most part other than his water and body spray, what else is his companies actually producing?

You may want to mark this, because Mickey actually started a thread worth discussing.

About a decade ago when Google started developing ties to China, it seemed to contradict the company's motto of "Do No Evil." In order for an internet information company to have a relationship with the Chinese market it had to restrict the information access to China's citizens and be complicit in its censorship practices, if not agnostic toward its repressive regime. Eventually, the "deal with the Devil" (if you will) caught up to Google, and they severed ties with China. That is, until this year. Internet companies have the pretension, if not the outright goal of suggesting that their product democratizes information and gives many more groups of people a voice. That political ethos comes into conflict with their business imperatives, which would require you to "do as the Romans do."

Facebook is a garbage company that has had absolutely horrendous attitudes towards privacy for as long as I can remember. It has never pretended to having any higher standards. Frankly, it's worse that it's free because there's not even the illusion that it's beholden to the people who use it.

People have an irrational hatred of Zuckerberg of which I can never understand. My boss suffers from this. He won't tell me why he hates Facebook and Zuckerberg so much, but something tells me it has to do with the conspiracies floating around that it's a CIA front and Zuckerberg is planning on ruling the world someday by creating their own Illuminati group. Or something...

Most of these people also post about that stuff, where? On Facebook!!!! Ask any privacy advocate who does the most ridiculous things like wear a tinfoil hat, "so the government can't track them," and then ask them if they are on Facebook. 9 out of 10 times they are even if they claim they are not.

Well, I've never invested in a tinfoil hate, signed up for Facebook or Twitter. Zuckerberg is way to friendly with obama for me to ever trust him. He's an elitist, idealist, an opportunist and a socialist. Not necessarily a good combo. A Lefty, by any other name.

Different countries make different choices. Most of Chinese support the censorship, just like most of Europeans support the ban on hate speech and most of Americans supported Guantanamo and McCarthyism.
