Interesting phrasing on NK nuke ambitions. I think we can easo;u credit Bill Clinton's administration with not only doing little to stop the NK's nuke program, but also assisting them with economic aid, fuel oil and building two nuclear facilities. This fave NK time to develop their nukes without a strict and timely inspection regime to monitor/retard progress on the development of nuke capabilities.
At least a president might try to be smart enough to understand that we don't assist our enemies allowing them capabilities even faster than if we did nothing at all... but all that was lost on Obama and Iran, right? Does anybody really think that Iran will stick to our agreements, that they will not be another rogue threat just like NK in the coming years?
So the OP was right to criticize Obama. As to the three options, while it is perhaps inevitable that NK will collapse, as did the Soviet Union, of its own unsustainability, yes we should be investing hardily in developing ABM defenses. In the absence of a truly reliable system, there are other options besides the costly one, in both blood and treasure, of invasion. Under consideration should be other military and covert operations to sabotage NK missiles that may ultimately genuinely threaten us.
