Why do you now keep saying "influential", it is who had the greatest impact on the world and the news.


If you can figure out what he has done, I can't help you. Whether it had more impact on the world is a matter of opinion.

Go search Iraq and Petraeus and when you learn who he is and what he did get back to us.


Obviously I do and have stated as such. The question is why Time valued one over the other.

Finishing second in the opinion of the editors is not the same as the editors picking him as the second-most influential person in the world.

Want a list of 20 people more important than Petraeus? OK. This is by no means complete, and there are many others ahead of Petraeus as well.

1. Vladimir Putin, 2. George W Bush, 3. Hu Jintao, 4. Angela Merkel, 5. Gordon Brown, 6. John Howard, 7. Josh Bolten, 8. Dick Cheney, 9. Manmohan Singh, 10. Nouri al-Maliki, 11. Benazir Bhutto, 12. Nicolas Sarkozy, 13. Ali Khamenei, 14. Pervez Musharraf, 15. Moqtada al-Sadr, 16. Hillary Clinton, 17. Hugo Chavez, 18. Aung San Suu Kyi, 19. Mahmoud Abbas, 20. Felipe Calderon.

And this isn't even including all the scientists, inventors, and writers, whose influence is usually not recognized until many years later.

If you think Petraeus is more important than every single person on this list, by all means explain why.
