Why don't we just do it this way: you tell us who you think should have gotten Person of the Year and why you think Vladimir Putin shouldn't have. The bottom line is that there are always going to be people who disagree with who is chosen. I'm sure they had their reasons for choosing him. In fact, it probably explains in the article why he was chosen. If you don't like it, don't buy the magazine. Start your own magazine and name your own ideal Person of the Year. |

He has on more than one occassion thumbed his nose at the U.S., brought his country into economic prosperity, took over private oil interests for Russia and is making himself a czar. Not bad for a years worth of work. |

In 2007 there were a number of substantial items, as listed in the Times article. Like it or not, Putin had a great impact on molding what direction the world will be moving.

Uhm actually I don't care that much, My point is that there have been more impactful people than some wannabe dictator that we rarely hear about. |

In any case, who are the more influential people? I would love to discuss. |

Again, who do you think was more impactful and more deserving of the title? |

So now they can afford a piece of beef instead of Stalin's rat casserole but glaring down on the now joyous people is Putin's hand of authority slowly closing the vlave that permitted personal freedoms to flourish. It is reflective of human nature for them to hold him high above his predecessors with food on the table but they will live to regret it in the not too distant future. |
