Ah yes.....some more trouble that Putin is stirring up, and over our Missile Shield. Just like he is doing in Eastern Europe.

Russia on Tuesday warned the United States against sending a ballistic missile defence system to South Korea, saying it could threaten regional security. Washington says it wants to deploy the system, known as THAAD, to South Korea as a deterrent to military provocation by North Korea.

"Such a development cannot but cause concern about the destructive influence of the United States' global missile defence on international security," Russia's foreign ministry said in a statement.

China has also already warned that deployment of the system would undermine peace and stability in the region.....snip~

THAAD neutralizes incoming missiles via kinetic impact and carries no warhead. This system has no offensive capability.

What's Putin going to do about it?

He expected us to get on our knees and service him with Ukraine well now he better get down on his knees and service us if that ****er wants us to not place defense systems in SK.

And the Chinese can just all around go **** themselves.

In itself, I am not sure this is much to be concerned about. Russia and China both often warn us about our activities in the region, just as we warn Russia about their activities all over the North Atlantic. What we are seeing is the result of this new Cold War we have with Russia, and they will not like just about everything we do. Same story is true headed the other direction. This is the bed we all made here, now we get to live in it.

Just another example of the USA poking a stick in the Bear's (Russia and China) face. That would be 8,000 miles away from the USA. Good for business of the Military Industrial Complex. Bad and perhaps dangerous for people. Did you vote for this? I didn't.

Mornin OS. :2wave: Russia threatened the Finns warning them over a missile shield. Now Poland and Romania are saying they will go with it. Which is going to spark there too.

Moreover Putin knows we are stretched thin.....and while it is pushback. He now lets BO know.....that with his Asian Pivot that Russia will be there to. Despite sanctions and with improved relations with China and NKorea. Lil Kim is suppose to visit Russia in May.

China has already stated how they look at it.

Again, we do not get to ignore the bed we made here.

Let me ask this another way, how much more do we need to spend here to fend off Russia and China? What is it that you would do if President to deal with Putin doing what he has done successfully for at least 8 years now?

Russia will continue to threaten just about anyone now, and it appears we are more than willing to threaten them. We are already going with bottom up punishments that are somewhat submarined by Russia's current trade interests in Europe.

It is almost like there is a silly assumption that we can force Russia into isolation when clearly they are working well with a number of people around the globe, including China, India, North Korea, Syria, etc.

Perhaps the best question is why am I the only one that sees the insanity with engaging Russia in a Cold War realizing out current fiscal weakness while we also spend more on our military than the next 8-10 nations combined? What do we need to spend here, more than the next 20 combined? I find all of this absurd, with one hell of a cost that seem to achieve nothing.

Do others care about these whacky conspiracies? I don't, they don't either.

Mornin DF. :2wave: When exactly has Russia delved into South Asia and started speaking out before the North Koreans do?

Good morning:

If Russia wants to change boundaries in Eastern Europe they know they have to do it in the next 20 months. They know we have a spineless president now, can't be certain who will come next.

Good morning, MMC! :2wave:

Well, well, well! It's starting to look like Putin was very busy indeed during his 10-day AWOL recently! And he orchestrated it just right - all the media was convinced he was doing anything but what he was really up to! Dangerously clever man, IMO!

What bed are we ignoring? We have allies in the region that have had China encroach upon their lands as well as extending their boundaries. We can't engage for them. But we can give them the means to play defense. Also I wouldn't have said anything, and I would have delivered the system and when it was up and operating. Then.....I would do the camera event.

For one I wouldn't have got suckered into that European dispute knowing Putin would go to war over those looking to take away Russia's ability for access to Club Med, and in on his Border. Nor would I have sent any ships just to flaunt in front of him that we are there and watching. Which would have been nothing but sacrifices.

I would have told the Europeans we support them finding a diplomatic solution with Russia when concerning his border states.

Yes we spend that on Military.....but much of that is also used with humanitarian efforts. That why aircraft carriers are used as being a floating city. Allows us to do a host of emergency services. Where no others can do the same. This does cost money and as all know. Using Aircraft carriers isn't cheap.

So when, talking about cutting the military, this must be part of it. As those humanitarian services differ around the globe.

That we have culpability here, Russia and China did not all of a sudden start this for no reason. It would be very naive to suggest that the US/EU has no part in this new round of Cold War mentality where nations are now threatening each other seeing how much they can get away with.

More filling of the vacuums left by Obama on the international front.

That's exactly what Putin expected the weak Obama to do. It's exactly what the weak Obama has done.

I think in the cold war they called this saber rattling, and it generally lead to little or nothing. But then, back then, the US had stronger presidents that didn't cave before the Russians like this one has. Emboldens all the other bullies to see what they can get away with.

Yeah that ten days he was gone. Seems like he was aware of what we were going to do. I wonder if he was reading emails of someone we know.

Well China started it with Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Pretty much a change up after taken back Hong Kong. All 3 have asked for assistance.

The Russians already were making their play up into the Artic.

I don't give a **** if Putin expected Obama to place missile defenses in SK or not. It's whether he wants them there or not or whether the Chinese want them there or not and chances are, they don't want them there.

I can care less about your hackish ways from here on out in this thread.

Well, this wasn't all that Russia was up to. Seems Putin wants to play with Nicaragua.

(Krasimir Grozev)A Serbian MiG-29Russia has once again started to flex its muscles in a bid to rebuild its influence in the Central American state of Nicaragua, McClatchy DC reports. Moscow may strike a possible arms deal with Nicaragua that would provide the Central American country with fighter jets. Although details of the deal have not been revealed, there are rumors in local papers from both countries that suggest that Russia could provide MiG-29 fighter aircraft.

Nicaragua has said that it needs the fighters to help fight the drug trade. However, the US and neighboring states are concerned that the arms deal is a way for Russia to make its presence felt in a region close to the US in retribution for what Moscow perceives as Western meddling in Ukraine and the Baltics.

“One doesn’t combat drug trafficking with that kind of heavy military equipment for fighting wars,” Costa Rican Foreign Minister Manuel González said in late February. McClatchy notes that Nicaragua’s possible acquisition would create “an imbalance for the region,” according to a former armed forces commander in Honduras.....snip~

I wish I could join you in dismissing all of this escalation with such ease.

I don't think I am dismissing it while bringing it up more of it.....and from those they can't handle the encroachment by Russia nor China.

Do others care about these whacky conspiracies? I don't, they don't either.

Wacky conspiracies???? The USA does not spread democracy and freedom nor "liberty and justice for all." If you will observe Ukraine, Syria, Libya, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Granada, Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Mexico, Guatamala, Chile, etc. you will observe that, We, the USA, export War, chaos, death, mayhem, torture, and destruction as SOP (Standard Operating Policy). We arm and fund many of the Islamic Fundies and train them in Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. When "War is good business, and business is good" is the USA gov't mantra, terrorists and terror wars are a wonderful thing, don't ya' know? As regards the "Drug War," during our tenure of control of Afghanistan, we have increased opium production fifty fold. 2001 and with the Taliban in control, opium production was 290 tons. Now that the USA has had armed control for ten years +. opium production has increased to 11,000 tons per year. By the same logic, as Drug Wars increase drug production, Terror Wars increase terrorists. It has to be the actual plan.

Ya' gotta' admire that banty rooster in North Korea. The Nation keeps on keepin' on by actually accomplishing some large objectives, like nuclear weapons and delivery systems. He is 8,000 miles away from our neighborhood, and we marched accross his Nation in the very early 50s and North Koreans have not forgotten that, but apparently USA has. We gave Japan our blessing (Teddy Roosevelt) to invade Korea in the early 1900s, so our track record with North Koreans is based upon reality in Kim's neighborhood. Clinton sent North Korea food, and I think we should do that again. OOPS, I forgot, we make friends by organizing a coup, overthrowing the gov't, spreading war, death, destruction, chaos, and death. Maybe N. Korea doesn't want any of that. Now Russia, N. Korea and China's neighbor, must always be interested in what goes on in both of those Nations, same as China. Russia has a nice port we built at Cam Rahn Bay, South Vietnam at its' disposal.

Now Putin wants to play in our back yard. Naturally Mexico wouldn't like seeing those Migs in the Sky either. Not from Nicaragua. Not any of those other Latin Nations. So obviously this would be come a concern. Would it not?

Of course Putin has the right to fly in our area. We have aircraft, tanks, ships, subs, artillery, and manpower adjacent the Russian border. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Putin could probably fly out of Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Brazil, etc. and it would be none of our business. Those are all Nations that we are attempting to destabilize politically and economically. Is it OK to destabililze these Nations?

I don't think we are destabilizing to many in our own backyard.....and the Chinese are already in Nicaragua. So having the Russians drop migs in there. Would be an imbalance to the region.

I doubt we were the Imbalance on Putin's border.
