Collinswood and Oaklawn elementaries would become K-8 Spanish-language schools.

The national language of this country is ENGLISH. We CANNOT allow that to be compromised!

Collinswood and Oaklawn elementaries would become K-8 Spanish-language schools. | I'm not sure about this, but I'm assuming that the flood of Irish immigrants to this country did not prompt schools to change to gaelic, or to Italian for the flood of Italian immigrants many years ago? So is this an example of another culture being pushed on America, or that we border Mexico? Personally I don't agree with this at all. English should be the only language in our public schools. |

While the most apparent reason for separatism is Quebec having a Francophone or predominantly French-speaking (French-Canadian or Québécois) majority, as compared to the rest of Canada which consists of all but two English-dominant provinces (New Brunswick often is considered as essentially having a bilingual population), the origins and evolution of the movement are actually fairly complex |

The Quebecois fought for the right to preserve their language and to make it the 1st official language in their own Province and they won. Canada officially became a bilingual country. Whatever other social, political, religious and economic reasons the separatists had for continuing their fight for independance has very little to do with the language they speak. Bi-lingualism is not the problem in Canada. As a matter of fact, it was the solution. It solved one of the many points of contention between the Quebec separatists and the rest of the country. |
