I'd like to see your calculations on how you arrived at going from $1.00 per household to $1.30 per household when increasing the 8% labor factor to 12%.

There are thousands of 'illegals' working the farms here and they are payed a wage like around $8.00 per hour and the farmers around here are getting rich. They work for 'cash' so $8.00 cash comes out to be about $16.00 per hour for Americans because of our taxes being taken out and workmens comp, company insurance etc.

So I would say that I would need to make about $40.00 per hour to do that kind of work and make a good living.
And of course the farmers would have to get by with only scoring enough for them to live 'high on the hog' and not become multi millionares.
BTW: It would cost the people around here to pay $6.00 for a dozen ears of corn instead of the $5.50 per dozen we now pay for it. No biggie and doable.

If farmers were paying 50 dollars an hour illegals would not be able to get those jobs because Americans would be already working them.I am sure lots of Americans will sweat their ass off in the hot sun of picking fruits and veggies for 50 dollars and hour.

I think you underestimate the American work ethic.Illegals working for substandard wages does not mean they have a better work ethic,it just means they are desperate.

I'm not using your labor factor because I think it wouldn't be accurate based on my own assumptions and responses on this thread. $40-50 an hour is what I'm basing my calculations on, possibly more per hour that people would demand to do this type of work. Labor would cost more than distribution costs, and there may be shortages of labor and inefficient labor because another assumption I'm making is that these workers wouldn't work as hard, they might even unionize. Were just getting soft here in American in my opinion, but I could be wrong, maybe Americans would work just as hard, but you would have to pay them 6-7 times more?

Any evidence of that? I don't know of any. You could look for reductions in second generation wages as evidence of reduced productivity from American culture. However, you'd have to factor in demand-side problems such as discrimination.

I find the idea of American's "not working hard" difficult to digest, given the US worker on average supplies a relatively high number of hours of labour. Despite that, the US labour market is characterised by a high percentage of low paid labour (i.e. work long or you get blight all)

I am actually a little concerned at what was actually written and censored
at 1:30 i was 8 hours into the bottle
kept going til 4:30, when i finally passed out so I could get up at 6 to take a client golfing at 8:40 in 93*F.
come to find out after our golf outing, she wanted to have a few cocktails on the Gulf, which i just got home from
so i have taken 7 hours off in teh last 24 hours from drinking
and for the life of me i can not remember what was the first word in the above post
