I think it is a good step in the right direction.It is a well known fact that the vast majority of people who come here illegally do so because there are scum bag anti-American businesses who will hire them.

I like it. I'd like to see it made more efficient and used in conjunction with heavy penalties agains employers who hire illegals. We need to combine this with a national ID card, of course.

MANDATORY e-verification has been the key to the success of the new tough on illegals/tough on the employers of illegals laws in Arizona and Oklahoma. Without e-verification an employer has to accept the documents presented by a prospective employee, not knowing if the documents are real or forged. If an employee turns out to be illegal, the employer can always say that they didn't know that the employee was illegal. With MANDATORY e-verification the legal status of all empoyees must be checked. If an employer is caught hiring illegals, they can no longer say that they didn't know they were illegal. They're caught. If they're caught enough times they lose their business license. MANDATORY e-verification is the key.

A couple weeks ago we got a social security statement in the mail for my husband and we noticed in 1979 -when he was only 1 year old- he had a statement of employment and money earned and we both had to laugh at first that somehow a 1 year old could get a job. Now we are going to have to go through the steps of finding out how this happened and if someone took his identity. I guess back then it was a lot harder to figure these things out without computers and stuff but it's still happening all the time now.

Do you know what a fact is ? It is something verifiable.

testimony about motivations, is not verifiable. If one of them actually cme here for the snow, but said on the form it was for jobs, how would you prove it ? Opinion cannot be verified, and neither can motivation. Opinions and motivations are never fact.
