Perhaps this is just my apathy about things that don't really affect anyone else coming to the surface... but I agree with the OP. As long as they feel like pledging allegiance to our country and to the flag for which it stands, does it matter that they do it in a language other than English? Is that not a freedom our citizens still possess?

I think that these days, it's not just any foreign language that's the problem, it's the Spanish language specifically. There seems to be some kind of belief that Hispanics are "taking over" the country and "imposing their culture, language and way of life" without making any effort to learn the local customs. Unlike the previous waves of immigrants they refuse to give up their identity for a brand new one just because they moved to a new country. Look at Miami, it has been a defacto bilingual city ever since the first Cubans moved there. They've been there for decades and yet their culture is still alive.

This is something I've noticed not just in the US, but everywhere else as well. The only difference is that when they move to countries where there actually IS an official language, they have no choice but to learn it if they are to have any chance at all of ever finding a job, rent a house or buy a car. The US is one of the few countries where it's still possible for them to find a better life and still retain their own heritage, their own identity. It's no wonder they move there in record numbers.

I've got a better idea.

Your statement regarding the water situation in Colorado is entirely without evidence and has no merit in a conversation about what language the pledge of allegiance is said in.

If you wish to refute what I said, go for it.
