This time the illegals get the free phone.

I can see allowing those here illegally to assimilate and eventually succumb to attrition. But only *if* we firstly put-up an air-tight border the very best we can!

Stop illegal immigration, and the internal problem of illegal-immigrants-within will resolve itself over time without the need to take any actions at all.

This stuff isn't rocket science.

Correct.

Just that the emotional Democrats lose their brains through their ass, when it comes to illegal law breakers of any kind! Except for cops of course, then they are looking to lynch them all.

Why is there never a middle ground when it comes to illegal immigration?
It's always "LET THEM ALL IN"! or "BUILD A WALL"!

:doh

How about we get out of ****ing gutter politics?

I think the rocket science comes in with actually figuring out how to stop illegal immigration.

PHILADELPHIA — A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in “the first 100 days” of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday, presenting a deep contrast with Republicans.

Simply...................OUTRAGEOUS!!!

That should nail down the Spanish vote nicely. Retroactively legalizing the massive law breaking and, if it should actually become law, motivate millions to follow. If that is, what we want instead of selection, that would make sense.

Actually it's not. If there is nothing for you here if you are an illegal alien the problem is largely dealt with in existing law. The real problem is being able to identify illegal aliens - quite a lot of flak has been thrown up in that effort. Take away access to education, all but emergency medicine (followed by deportation), opening a bank account, any government subsidies (federal, state or local), the ability to rent a place to stay and put any remittances to South American countries (the vast bulk of the problem) under a microscope, would send the most of them home right now and stem the tide.

It's all about enforcement.

I think you're still going to end up with the problem that even without access to those services, life here is still better than life impoverished in their countries. You're still going to end up with under the table pay and identity theft in order to receive those services. I do think the right approach is to focus on removing incentives though, rather than trying to physically stop up the border with something that there are endless ways of getting around.

Criminals will always try to find some way around the law. There is NOTHING that will stop that. Again, enforcement is the key. With the establishment (and enforcement) of the measures I detailed, though life may be better here than in their home country, they won't have access to it, nor will their families. Once it shown that the best they can hope for is the waiting game until they are discovered and deported, the problem will lessen considerably. Take away the incentive.

Add one more thing to the list - asset forfeiture. We take all the stuff you've accumulated, all your bank accounts and monies (including seizing the remittances) while you've been here illegally.

I don't see reports that doctors, engineers, etc are crossing the border illegally. What is reported are poorly educated, manual labor type skills crossing the border illegally.

I wonder how many who cross the border illegally really want to become US citizens? imo, few really want to assimilate.

The immigration issue is one that makes me want to vote for Trump. Even though I dislike him.

Kaine should go south of the border if he wants to habla espanol. I don't even know what to say about this guy. He is nozzling up every illegal's assholes chin deep while showing the rest of us the middle finger. Amazing what some people do for power.

How about we stop catering, period? We have homeless people all over, our veterans are in dire need, we hear on daily basis how our children are going hungry, charities are in desperate need for funds, but here are the democrats, the ones FOR the people, groveling for votes by all means possible.
Let us take care of our own first. Let us seal the border, tight. Let us stop catering. No English no nothing. Not sure if anyone has been to Walmart lately? Next time you go, close your eyes and listen.
We don't do people who are escaping their hellholes any favor if we turn this country into a hellhole too.
Those who want to come here must adjust to us, not the other way around.

I agree, but I would guess the number of them who overstay their VISA is substantial.

Hammer the companies that hire the illegals and the lack of jobs will force them to self deport. It's quite simple.

How would you enforce it among those who make their own jobs (handymen, etc.)?

This will probably come off as racist or whatever, but I think it's kind of sad that many Hispanics are basically fighting for the right to get around the law.

So never then.
I think we can get the border pretty tight if we legitimately expended the effort, and then make e-verify mandatory. I think the two preceding ideas would go a long way to rectifying the problem.

I think securing the border is a pipe dream. Mandatory full E-Verify I agree with. You'd be surprised how many states don't participate. and only like 2 or 3 enforce the whole package.

It would seem to me those states that don't participate in e-verify are valuing the interests of the state's employers, over those of the citizen's and legal workers.

I disagree with your belief that we can't reasonably secure the border, at least until it has been shown we *cannot* do it. As seen with e-verify, I'm of the opinion securing the border has similarly never received the priority focus it deserves.

Nothing ever gets done without the political will (and subsequent government response). We haven't seen this with the border. We might be getting there with Trump, though. Might. But that's a big 'maybe'.

Educated or wealthy people don't cross borders because they can get a visa easier and then just overstay.

Kind of how you fight for the right to get around copyright laws, eh? ;)

Of course, thats different.
