This is why you don't trust those who say secure the border first and then grant amnesty. Because lying sacks of **** like Clinton will falsely claim the border is secure so now lets grant amnesty.

Hillary Clinton says U.S.-Mexico border is secure - Washington Times
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said Thursday that the southwest border is secure enough that the government should now turn its attention to trying to legalize illegal immigrants.
In an interview with KTAR radio in Phoenix, Mrs. Clinton said improvements under President George W. Bush and President Obama, including several hundred miles of fencing, have cut net illegal immigration from Mexico to zero.
“Now I think it’s time to turn our attention to comprehensive immigration reform,” she said, using the term immigrant rights advocates use for legislation to legalize the 11 million illegal immigrants now in the country.

It is doubtful that the border will ever be secure even if Trump gets his way. But there is always room for improvement so long as we are paying attention to all the economic reasons why illegal immigration is a problem in the first place.

May be we should just annex Mexico and get it over with. We are already paying most of their bills.

I've never understood why we reward criminals. Everyone should have to apply for citizenship before entering this country. Illegals should not be handed jobs and relief. I absolutely refuse to vote for Hillary.

Well, IMO, we certainly do not need to build a ****ing Wall. Republicans have totally jumped the shark, if not gone completely insane, and that's why they will lose come November.

All part of the bipartisan effort to make sure this issue is never addressed. The right screams that they're streaming across by the billion, the left replies that the border is secure. Accusations of insanity or blindness pass each other in the middle like hypothetical nukes during the cold war. Attention is focused on bad arguments and skewed statistics. The truth remains in the middle somewhere, ignored. The off the books elements of the construction and landscaping industries continues uninterrupted.

If they ever push the North American Union down our throats, there will be no borders or dollars.

More like all part of the Bipartisan Empire's effort to distract us from the bigger issue. I find it funny that at the beginning of the campaigns, the average voter thought economy was the biggest issue. Now polls seem to show that the average voter sees immigration as the bigger issue (or it is very quickly closing the gap depending on the poll).
How the Bipartisan Empire propaganda machine we lovingly call the media sways the will of the average American.

I don't suppose you would bother yourself with checking the validity of the claim before declaring that she is lying sack of ****?

I am pretty sure border agents no more that pro-amnesty hacks on whether or not the border is secure.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news...-caught-border-have-criminal-record/?page=all
Less than half of the U.S.-Mexico border is under “operational control,” and one out of every five illegal immigrants caught there has a criminal record, the chief of Border Patrol agents’ labor union told Congress Wednesday when detailing violence that increasingly spills over the international boundary.
Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said the level of criminal activity belies claims that because fewer illegal immigrants are being caught, the border has improved in recent years.
“This is the challenge we are facing at the border today,” he said. “There are those who will point to lower apprehension rates and tell you the border is secure. Border Patrol agents, however, throughout this nation will tell you the border is not secure, and the southwest border certainly is not safe.”

To pro-open borders, pro-amnesty/pro-illegl, anti-American loons who kiss the asses of illegals a wall on the border is insane. To pro-American ant-illegal immigration people a wall makes a lot of sense.

Great. We now have one candidate saying the border is secure, which is a crock, and another saying that we need to build a wall to make it secure, which is also a crock. Where is the candidate saying that we need to enforce the law to keep the border secure? Is there one?

Not that I'm aware of.

I would like to go the opposite way. The US more or less stole a bunch of land from Mexico after the Mexican war and perhaps we can trade them California for an agreement on repatriating all Mexicans in the US. And they could go to California. Win-Win.

Then we would get Californians sneaking across the border and that would be worse.

Cruz is saying we need to enforce our immigration laws. https://www.tedcruz.org/cruz-immigration-plan/

I think we need a wall on top of enforcement. Because one president could be President Eisenhower with Operation Wetback or Presidet Hoover with Mexican Repatriation and the president after them could be president Bush, Reagan or Obama in regards to Amnesty. Border guards and enforcement provisions are a whole lot harder to remove than a wall. I realize a wall isn't perfect but if you got a dripping faucet at do you try to shut it off as much as you can or do you let it run at full blast? Most people try to shut it off as much as they can because letting it run full blast wastes more water.

How far would you go back? Bowing to the queen?

It is secure....try sneaking into Mexico and you will likely be jailed. :lamo

Good analogy, but the wall is more like remodeling the kitchen when all you need is a washer.

It would be so much more cost efficient to eliminate the incentive than to attempt to secure the border.

That has absolutely nothing to do with 'secure borders'. Secure borders does not involve an equation of some people leaving or fewer reporting as immigrants. Secure borders means illegal immigrants cant come in.

But it does matter when we are discussing the claim of whether the border is "secure enough" to focus our immigration policy on a comprehensive reform that will allow the illegals that already live in the country a method for rectifying and paying for their crimes.

No...it doesnt. Its a lie, and you know it. The border is hell and gone from 'secure'. Promoting a lie to just ignore a problem solves nothing. Worse...it makes you look either a-stupid, if you believe the lie or b-a liar, if you repeat the lie.
