Why is there so much outrage over Trump's immigration stance?

Except most of those countries have a rational immigration policy that makes it reasonably easy for good people to immigrate. When you have an obviously stupid law on the books you get rid of the law and replace it with a better one. If you fixed the law and streamlined things so that good people could get in legally easier then you wouldn't need a boarder wall at all because 98% of the people crossing the Mexican boarder are in fact good people who should be allowed in. Putting up a wall or throwing current illegal immigrants out of the country would be like saying you have to completely stop all alcohol consumption and arrest every person who drank a beer under prohibition before you can repeal prohibition. If a law is dumb get rid of it.

There's also the fact that unlike every other country in the world the United States was founded by immigrants. People who were running away from the Tyranny and BS going on in the rest of the world. The plaque at Ellis Island states "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free." Blocking immigration is probably the single most anti-American idea that could possibly be entertained.

The whole idea of American Exceptionalism is based on the notion that America is unique and superior to the rest of the world so relying on what the rest of the world does with immigrants is probably not the best solution. Further more if you like what other countries are doing with immigrants why don't you try to immigrate to one of those countries so you can have immigration policy that's nothing like America.

The truth is that if Trump supporters and other Republicans were only worried about "Illegal" immigration they could simply fix that by just making them all legal. They wont do that however because their real problem is not a hatred of Illegal immigration it's a hatred of all immigrants. Specifically those that are coming from countries filled with brown people.

Who are these good people that the US law is keeping out?

Who are these good people that the US law is keeping out?

There are literally thousands of people being deported and separated from their families in this country every week. Children born in this country who have lived their entire lives in this country and came here through no fault of their own are having their parents torn away from them. These people are hard working people, who are contributing to the country and the economy. The only crime they have ever committed is wanting a better life for their children. They want the same thing that your ancestors wanted when they came to this country. An opportunity, nothing more. To reject them is blind hateful ignorance. Immigration is a positive thing for the country. It helps grow the economy, and helps fill menial jobs that few people want to actually do. The people who immigrate here are the best, brightest and most peaceful people their countries have to offer. They are fleeing violence and crime not participating in it. Anyone who believes otherwise is an absolute moron.

I think the outrage is really in the way he opened his immigration stance.
1. Let's build a wall and someone get a dirt poor country to pay for it... Illogical
2. Let's ban ALL Muslims from entering the U.S. until "this thing is all sorted out" ... Illogical and a proposal that has no way to legislate or police. AND flies in the face of the Constitution in spirit if not in letter (not to mention what it says at the base of the Statue of Liberty, herself).

If his approach had been "We need stronger protection, possibly even a very large wall around our borders" then that would probably have gone over better. If he had said "We need to introduce better screening for those entering our country" thent hat would have gone over better.
But he said the most asinine things he could and kept saying them because it got people's attention. Then someone wonders why people don't like his stance?
Maybe because his "stance" is introduced in the most insulting way possible?
