What It Would Take to Build Trump’s Border Wall with Mexico

Mexico has one on their southern border:3oops:
Israel?

The most heavily guarded border is the DMZ between North and South Korea.
They don't know how many tunnels are under it but they suspect there's lots.

Anyone who is actually against illegal immigration thinks a wall is a good idea.

That lets out all those wealthy businessmen (many Republicans) who make big bucks off cheap labour. Nothing will be done about the problem until some of them start getting jail time, and that ain't happening any time soon.
Time to take a look at who's causing the problem.

Are you aware that Europe is busy putting up extreme fences

This isn't a fence, this is a WALL.

and that Israel is a big believer in walls?

They also believe in annexing entire portions of another country, like Russia (whose Dictator-in-Chief Trump has on numerous occasions admired, these psychopaths have a mutual respect for one another).

The Koreans tend to like them too.

That is a DMZ, we are not at war with Mexico (but we will be if Trump becomes President).

And the Chinese

You mean the Communist Authoritarian China? Or the other China? Oh, wait...

Let me be perfectly clear. I know you are scared of a "NWO" or "vicious elites" running this country, but Trump is not the answer. We should be an example to other people around the world. We should lead by example. To expand a message of love and tolerance to all humans. We have a chance to elect the first REAL President since John F. Kennedy. THAT MAN IS NOT DONALD TRUMP.

You really have only two choices in this election:

1) Bernie's Rebellion. Or,

2) [See image below]

Look, this is no problem, they should be getting along, Trump is an easy guy to get along with.

OMG, I wish my women were as hot as Trumps...He be the man!

All beliefs aside the reality of our world is that the trading of goods, both legal and illegal, is a multi-billion dollar industry that both sides do not want to be cut by a dollar. If this wasn't true, our so called "war on drugs" would have sealed the border decades ago and it's no big secret why we didn't. Money, money, money what all the greedy bastards in charge on both sides want.

Well, actually, it is a line from a poem by Robert Frost. The adjoining properties to which his poem refers did not trade or do business with each other, they were neighbors. I live up here in Frost country and have a rather traditional relationship with my neighbor. I pulled is truck out once and cleared his driveway when he had to go away one winter. But we aren't in business together. The Robert Frost aphorism is at best irrelevant to US-Mexico relations.

American relationships with the countries of Latin America have always been condescending, paternalistic and exploitive. That age is over, but because it is such a basic part of the local culture of US border states, its assumptions and prejudices linger there along with a number of similar domestic prejudices The disproportionate ascendency of the South in Republican Politics is giving new life to these ancient attitudes and all Americans are paying the price for it,.

Trump said that since Mexico has a trade deficit with us, we would use some of that money to pay for the wall. Made sense to me, until I thought about it.

Trade deficit means there are more imports than exports. Which means we are buying more from Mexico than we are selling. How is this Mexico's fault? How does it rest on their shoulders, the fact that we are buying more from them? Isn't it our problem? Isn't it our decision to buy as much as we do from Mexico? So why in the hell should they pay for our wall, based upon the argument that they have a trade deficit with us, which is a trade surplus for them. I can understand saying, since Mexico has allowed all of these illegal immigrants to go to the US, and created the conditions for the to leave, then they should help pay. But I think this trade deficit reasoning is very misleading to the American people.

Oh sorry, we are not going where you want to go, are we....

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

Who is running in droves to Canada? North Americans or Alaskans?
Apples and Oranges.

Unrelated to this person's response:
I also don't think "how do you plan to do this" is the same as "we don't want borders".

The primary reason for wanting to concentrate on a more secure border is to continue to ignore the (more expensive?) issue of what to do with the estimated 12 million (and growing?) folks that are already here illegally. It is not a good (better?) door/lock that keeps folks from breaking into your home/car it is the consequences (and chances) of getting caught doing so which deter that crime.

The sad truth is that having cheap labor and "jobs that citizens will not do" is very profitable.
