Democrats furious over Obama administration deportations

These Democrats complain about 200,000 deportations, when there are still 20 million illegals here? 1% get deported? That's deplorably low.

I don't know how many there really are, and neither does anyone else, but there could be that many. Moreover, I'd be willing to bet that, regardless of whether the Republicans or Democrats gain the White House, they'll still be here in 2020. Anyone willing to take that bet?

Sadly, most of them probably will still be here. But with increased security stopping the flow, and maybe teaming up with wire transfer companies (and also cutting their welfare benefits) so that these illegals aren't sending money back home, you could probably get many of them to leave voluntarily.

Enforce the law against hiring illegals, deny them government benefits, and they'll go home.

Give the a chance to go to the American consulate in their home country, undergo a background check, and prove they've been working and contributing to America in order to get a green card, and the ones we need and want here will come back an no longer be illegal.

Give them amnesty, and we'll have a repeat of the flood of illegals we had in '86.

The choices are pretty clear. What I'm predicting will happen is absolutely nothing outside of political rhetoric and blame.

That would likely make a huge dent, fully agreed.

As long as establishment candidates keep getting elected that is what will happen. I would have been very interested to see what would have happened had Pat Buchanan been elected, but there isn't much that we can do about that. Until something substantial changes, Democrats will do nothing because it benefits them and Republicans will talk a big game and do nothing because it helps their donors.

Exactly. Neither party wants to do more than pay lip service to ending illegal immigration.

Maybe a third party.

if trump gets elected something might happen. maybe he'll go the executive order route. :)

Smartest thing the PUBs could do is create a realistic pathway to citizenship.

The newest immigrants to our Grand and Glorious Republic don't come here for free stuff, that's a 'native' American mindset. The newest come here for WORK. They are by nature far more Conservative than Liberal. The biggest factor in the PUBs being unable to get more than single digit Hispanic support is there are so few Cubans compared to Mexicans.

Hispanic isn't a monoblock vote. Right now the PUBs can't buy more than a handful of Mexican-American votes because of the divisiveness of Rabid Right 'Wall' rhetoric. Bring them in and pay a fair wage- the PUB slice of the Hispanic vote would double, even triple.

Many Democrats will start hating Hispanics (again) as they will put pressure on the lower income 'natives' for entry level jobs. Many Hispanics will be small business owners and those guys are the apple of the PUB eye when 'job creators' are gushed over...

Sometimes PUBs can't see the forest for the blinders... :peace

Nothing you've mentioned indicates the immigration system itself is broken. What is and has been broken is the enforcement of the law. And deporting illegals is not a logistical nightmare, it would actually be rather easy as such things go if enforcement were there and we stopped ALL giveaways and public services for illegals. Again, for the billionth time, it doesn't have to be done en masse.

Stop all giveaways, public service, aiding and abetting, and employment opportunities, and the problem would solve itself en masse.

Lots of Conservatives say that, lots of Conservatives have been in charge of the government. Do you REALLY think any of that is practical?

A question- does Mexico have a bunch of giveaways, public service, employment opportunities??? Why leave here, after great expense and danger getting here, to go back there???

See California Proposition 187. The voters of this formerly fine state tried to do just that, and the courts shut them down.

LOL.

They don't? Then what's with all the welfare use?

The newest come here for WORK. They are by nature far more Conservative than Liberal.

Which is why they're majority Democrat?

The biggest factor in the PUBs being unable to get more than single digit Hispanic support is there are so few Cubans compared to Mexicans.

Agreed. There are far too many Mexican immigrants, they still hold loyalty to Mexico, and they lean far too socialist.

.

No, it's because most Mexicans are socialists.

Bring them in and pay a fair wage- the PUB slice of the Hispanic vote would double, even triple.

No evidence for this. At all.

Hate Hispanics? They love to play the racial division game. Why do you think that they love immigration so much? Hispanics mostly vote for them. Though you're right, Cubans are an exception.

You must not have been around when the DEMs wanted undocumented workers cracked down on- for the Unions. I'd say the PUBs are most excellent at pushing race hate- GOP last bastion of the angry white man, fearing other skin colors.

What welfare do undocumented workers get? Compare that to what a 'real' American can get. immigrants come here for work, not crumbs, they want a paycheck.

Every wave of immigrants gets tagged- 'still loyal to their home country' from Germans, to Asians, to Irish to Italians... that is rubbish- they FLED their country. they like many other groups are proud of where they are from, but that doesn't mean they want to turn this country into the old country.

Who is socialist, Hispanics are some of the most capitalist folks around, from street tacos to lawn services they are doing what Reagan preached- start a small business!

What drives Hispanics to the DEM side is the constant hate speech from politicians down to folks in here.

Cubans are different because they are greeted with open arms and allowed to piggy back off their earlier arrivals. not everyone in Florida loves Cubans but you won't see any protests to deport them.... :peace

Unions aren't as strong as they once were, so their concerns aren't as significant to the political parties.

2 words: anchor babies. Have a baby here and then they get that sweet welfare money.

So what is MEChA?

Give me a break. They are uniformly treated with kid gloves. They don't even have to learn the language! What a joke!

Cubans are different because they are greeted with open arms and allowed to piggy back off their earlier arrivals. not everyone in Florida loves Cubans but you won't see any protests to deport them.... :peace

No, Cubans are different because they know what Communism is like, so they appreciate a free market. I say that from personal experience as the son of a Cuban immigrant. That said, those Cubans who refuse to assimilate ought to be deported, and I'm looking at you Miami.

Fact checking anchor babies:

It's important to note that having an "anchor baby" won't do much to help a Mexican mom become a U.S. citizen. Because citizen children cannot sponsor their parents for citizenship until they turn 21 -- and because if the parents were ever illegal, they would have to return home for 10 years before applying to come in -- having a baby to secure citizenship for its parents is an extremely long-term, and uncertain, process.

However, having a citizen child can produce some short-term benefits, said Marc Rosenblum, a senior policy analyst for the Migration Policy Institute. Pregnant women and nursing mothers could be eligible for certain benefits under the Women-Infants-Children (WIC) program, which provides food and nutrition vouchers, and their children could enroll in Medicaid, although the undocumented parents could not.

Not quite as simple as come across the border, drop a baby, and instantly be safe from deportation and be eligible for welfare, is it?

It depends on the city. In sanctuary cities is is absolutely that simple.

Sanctuary cities may help shield them from deportation, but it doesn't aid them in receiving benefits. I am willing to listen to any evidence that it does though.

There was a story here a while back about Mexican citizens who had babies here in America having a PO box in a Mailboxes Etcetera just across the border from Mexico. The story went that they had their babies here, got them documented, then moved back to Mexico. Their babies were eligible for benefits (what type I'm not sure, but it included getting a monthly check). The mother or father would come across once a month to collect their checks and then go back across. I'll see if I can locate the story.

It was more about the prevention of deportation. In terms of collecting benefits, it's easy everywhere as long as you have an anchor baby.

Got a link for that claim?
