GOP Governors can file State Lawsuits against BO's Amnesty. Looks like Right out the gate it will be Perry and Abbot out of Texas. Walker and a few others are calling to do the same. This is another wy to legally go after BO's order. Should all 33 Republican Governors file? What say ye?

GOP governors attack Obama's immigration order.....

The nation's Republican governors on Wednesday lashed out at President Barack Obama's plans to unilaterally protect millions of immigrants from deportation, but clashed over whether their congressional colleagues should threaten a government shutdown in response.

The issue dominated the first full day of the Republican Governors Association annual meeting, where a half-dozen potential presidential candidates addressed an issue that could weigh heavily in the GOP's wide-open presidential primary.....snip~

I think this is just grandstanding by the Governors at this point and putting the cart before the horse. We don't know yet what exactly Obama is going to do yet. These are just threats at this point.

There are a few ways that Obama can legally do this, although I don't support them. There are also ways he could flat out do it illegally and then I wouldn't have a problem with the GOP trying to nail him.

Bottom line is since we don't know exactly what Obama is doing, it is all pure speculation at this point. After today we will know more.

No one knows whether Obama will even issue an executive order, much less what will be in it. The governors are simply getting their names in the news, nothing more.

And people wonder why confidence in our government is at historic lows...

No fair using common sense - this is partisan politics! ;)

Maybe republicans shouldn't fight this so hard. After all, if the rationale for Obamas executive action is that 'he waited long enough' and 'congress has refused to act' and 'the system is broken' then other issues can be addressed by executive fiat as well. Like tax reform. Since the tax code is a mess and we have waited for ever and congress has done nothing about it, the next president can re-write the tax code by executive order. I am sure liberals will fall right in line.

Then think again because if you think every liberal is in line with BO's actions then you're wrong.

Also, I'm inclined to agree with thenextera, there are ways Obama can do this legally and illegally, we must wait and see.

I think you are right. Before one gets all hyper it is best to wait and see what exactly the president is going to do.

ahhhh, gotta love the smell of "fiscal conservatives" throwing tax dollars away fighting a losing court battle to create spectacle for reelection

I do not think the argument of waited too long really hold water. The Republican House sent over 200 plus passed bills to the senate and they are still waiting action sitting in Harry Reid's top left hand drawer. So it is hypocritical to use the old you waited too long when no action on taken on the other bills.

That's silly. If the president takes an action that the opposing party believes the Constitution doesn't grant him the authority to make, what would you have them do? Nothing?

I don't think its a good argument either. But it is one I have heard liberals defending Obama use.

Well at least one of them possesses some form of common sense.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suggested that his party should pursue a lawsuit to block Obama's plans instead of a government shutdown. He described immigration reform as important, but not as important as the economy, taxes, energy and education, and accused Obama of using the issue as a "cynical ploy" to disrupt Republicans from pursuing other agenda items.

Not unsurprisingly it comes from a midwesterner. ;)

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Fair is fair. If the senate is going to hold up 200 plus house passed bills with no vote on them, then the House can hold up 1 bill passed by the senate. The argument of having waited long enough makes no sense on the inaction of the house when their Democratically controlled senate has done it over 200 times.

did that "opposing party" think it was unconstitutional when Reagan did it?
where in the constitution are EO's prohibited?
when was the last time SCOTUS invalidated one?

oh.

Were any of them in office when Reagan did it?

the what?

are they not always saying "WE NEED ANOTHER REAGAN!!!!!"
?

seems like they're getting what they asked for.

I don't know, are they? I don't hear conservatives talk about Reagan that much these days.

Clearly, you haven't been paying attention. Perhaps you might familiarize yourself with Obamas own statements made over the last couple of years where he says he has no authority to do what he is about to do.

Clearly, you're assuming I'm in favor of it (meh) and a supporter of Obama (nope).
