Thread: Muslim mother beats daughter for talking to a boy.

So here is a Iraqi family not yet US citizens living in the US and the mother beat her teenage daughter and tied her to a bed because she talked to a boy. The mother stated she did it because it is against Iraqi culture and has done nothing wrong.

My stance is if they were still in Iraq they can live by the laws of Iraq. This is the US and is not acceptable. The police and school have reacted properly. This shows on of the problems when people don’t meld into a society.

Farhan is also suspected of keeping her daughter from leaving the house by tying her to a bed with a rope, according to court documents.
Farhan was arrested while visiting her daughter at the hospital where she was being treated, according to court records.
Officials from the hospital and the daughter's high school had alerted authorities of her injuries. Hospital officials wouldn't release her condition

Hope your right. One of the reason I posted this article was because last year a father ran over her daughter in Phoenix killing her. His defense was she had become to "western", and it was justified under Iraqi culture (honor killing).

Not that easy to blend in initially. They go through a culture shock. Her parents will probably remain conservative but the young girl can blend in faster.

I'm quite sure some/many Christian American families have done similar things so if this is an attempt to make this about Islam or Iraq, it's not a very good one. Situations like these are what happens when irrational and violent people have children.

And child molesters claim 9 year olds "seduce" them............Bah.. Domestic violence and murder is not limited to Muslims unless there is NO other crime in Phoenix.

It's her personal culture, it's Iraqi culture... doesn't matter. She lives here now, and what's "wrong" or "right" according to our laws is based on our culture. She will either learn to live like an American gracefully, or she will learn it slowly and painfully.

Her choice.
