I don't see why they're attacking Halloween. It has nothing to do with religion. At least I understand why they would attack Christmas ... but Halloween? It just doesn't make any sense.

Robertson is hoping to strike compromises that will keep traditions alive and be culturally acceptable to all students -- nearly half of whom are of Arab descent at Columbus Manor, she says. Fewer than a third of students districtwide are of Arab descent, according to Smyth.

I Agree. Hypothetically it has pagan roots, but those are far removed in this day and age. It's become a holiday that's about as secular and purely cultural as can be.

Plus, I like the Halloween parades we did. ::)

Why, I remember when I was in school they actually expected me to wear something green on March 17, and they served some kind of weird green desert in the cafeteria. Then on other days they served spagetti and tacos!

I agree - the post was solely in jest, as I'm sure you know.

I don't see disputes about what kinds of religious things should be allowed in schools as overly horrible (except for the prayer in school, but that's off topic), but this kind of suppression of a secular cultural tradition I find disturbing.

Iriemon has proven himself to be an excuse maker for whatever misbehavior muslims are currently responsibler. As such, his claims of "bigot" or "racist" are just not credible.

For the record, the article I posted had no mention of "modfying" holidays; it merely stated that a whiny muslim caused so much crap that a school district decided to toss out long celebrated hoildays because a "ONE" muslim found them offensive.

The aforementioned holidays are NOT uninclusive and they do not seek to directly exclude ANYBODY. The jewish people in this country do not celebrate Christmas but you do not see them out demanding that Santa wear a yamica do you?

Honestly, I think these people will be mad until Santa trades in his sleigh for a camel and his cap for a turban.
