Why are you telling porkies? ALL those affected by Chernobyl were getting it irrespective of where they lived or had to move to.

The only people that "moved" back to Chernobyl were few (mostly old people) who done it out of ignorance coupled with "we lived there all our lives, there are our homes, its too much for us to start afresh on a new place, our ancestors are buried there and we want to die on our land, etc."

The other category of people who lived for the duration of their shifts inside an unsafe zone were specialists who monitored and maintained the station.

Take a virtual tour of Chernobyl, and afterwards, reflect on the fact that Earth is a precious commodity, that there is only so much Earth to go around, and that stewardship is what God had in mind, not despoiling. It is appalling that, 23 years after Chernobyl, this horrific incident still flies under the radar of history. It shouldn't, lest we are prepared not to accept the lesson of Chernobyl, and repeat it some time in the future.

Virtual tour of Chernobyl is here.
I find Chernobyl to be both horrifying and beautiful at the same time-- sorta like Pompeii.

Why is it that amusement parks are always so creepy.

My point was that millions of people have a massive fear of nuclear energy, despite it being a much more efficient, cleaner, and, ultimately, cheaper way of producing electricity. Yet whenever a carrier or sub rolls into port nobody thinks anything of it, like it doesn't click that there's a couple of reactors that have reached critical and are operating while sitting less than a mile from Manhattan.

I'm actually training to be a nuc EM, with about 17 years of a-school to get anywhere close to one. But I will definitely say, the men who designed the reactors we use were simply geniuses. It really would be hard to **** one up.

Any info available on the genetic aftermath?

Incidence rate of mental disorders, cancers, physical deformities etc?

There are still farms near my house in Wales that have restrictions on the sale of lamb.
