| The real reason for the New Deal?
This had been bothering me for awhile, would it be safe to say that one of the hidden concepts of the New Deal was to prevent a Red Revolution? If you think about it, plenty of people were in pretty bad shape and in desperate times people turn to anything or anyone (see Germany and Portugal in the 1930s) for help. Did Roosevelt see that all it couldve taken was that one charismatic Red to lead Revolution or did he believe that the New Deal was the only way out.
