Ok kiddies, this is how this works:

Every president starts out with 100 points. Pick your top 3 best and top 3 worst presidents ever.
For your number one pick for best president, you can add eleven points.
For your number two pick for best president, you can add eight points.
Four your number three pick for best president, you can add three points.

For your worst president, you can subtract ten points.
For your second-worst president, you can subtract six points.
For your third-worst president, you can subtract two points.

Update the point total for each president and post the updated total for each president so that the next person can make their picks and update the numbers. After 30 days (October 23rd) the president with the most points is the DP greatest president ever and the one with the fewest points is the worst one ever.

And no voting twice Reagan fans!

Ready? Go!

I'll start us out.

Objectively speaking;

Best Presidents

1. Harry S Truman (D)
The man was honest first and foremost.
He was a Veteran.
He fought waste, fraud and abuse in government.
And he inherited WWII and the decision on whether or not to drop the atom bomb.
And he bravely did the (difficult, horrible, gut-wrenching) right thing in the end.
A truly admirable man.

2. Jimmy Carter (D)
Honest almost to a fault.
Loved his wife, loved his country.
A US Navy Veteran, and more of a leader than a politician.
Will not be remembered by most as a great President, but his integrity was strong.
Led the nation thru gasoline shortages, disco, and the Iran hostage crisis.
Stepped on his d1ck on a number of occasions, but never made excuses for anything.

3. Abraham Lincoln (The National Union Party)
Fought to preserve the Union above all other political concerns.
A Veteran, having served as a Captain in the Illinois Militia.
Exercised great leadership in quite possibly the very worst time in American history.
Self-educated, writer, poet.
Tolerated living with a bat-s#%t-crazy wife.
Would be number one if only he had a stronger concern for his own personal safety while sitting among the common citizens in a theatre.

Worst Presidents

1. Barack Obama (D)
Dishonest.
Hands down, the very worst human being to ever occupy the White House.
Not a Veteran, nor a friend to the US military.
Staggeringly-dishonest, self-serving, arrogant, unaccountable, and utterly lacking in integrity.
Operating at constant odds with the good of the American people and their security and safety.

2. James Buchanan (D)
Dishonest.
Complete idiot.
To his credit, a Veteran of the Pennsylvania State Militia.
Lazy.
More concerned with his own pleasures than the good of the American people and the Republic.
His utter lack of leadership abilities led directly to the start of the Civil War.

3. Richard M Nixon (R)
Dishonest.
A Veteran, to his credit.
More concerned with his own legacy than the good of the American people.
Made the Vietnam war worse than it need to be.

George Washington 100

Thomas Jefferson 100

Jimmy Carter 108
Ronald Reagan 100
George H. W. Bush 100
Bill Clinton 100
George W. Bush 100
Barack Hussein Obama 90

A question;
Why do the points gained for the best out-weigh the points lost for the worst?

Seems odd to me.
Objectively speaking.

LOL LOL LOL

My god you are one of the most delusional people walking the planet. FDR, Lincoln, and Johnson should have all been hung as traitors and war criminals. The government school system has created an entire country of complete idiots who believe a comic book version of history and have no concept of the principals of law at all.

Just a head's up, Lincoln wasn't a D.

Ah, that's right.
The National Union Party it was indeed.

Thanks for the catch.
I'll fix it in the original text, if possible.

My memory for historical details is as bad as it is for song lyrics, and it only gets worse with age.
Much appreciated!!

Worst

1 Woodrow Wilson

Best

1. Lincoln - Kept the U.S. united, freed slaves
2. Washington - Could've been king
3. Ike - Our best decade. Could've been a warmonger as president but warned of Military Industrial Complex instead

Worst

1. Andrew Johnson - Utter failure in race relations after Lincoln risked his own sanity to guide us through abolition
2. Hoover - Arrogant enough to believe government can solve all of our problems in what possibly could've been a recession.
3. LBJ - Explosion in government growth, massive social programs. Horrible leader in both Wars on Poverty and in Vietnam

I'm just waiting for the cliche Libertarian who ranks Grover Cleveland on top and Lincoln on the bottom.

Abraham Lincoln, father of the Republican Party, freed all slaves in the US with implementation of the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863.

Though Democrats now love to “quote” Lincoln as though he was one of their own, 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Democrat John Wilkes Booth, shot Abraham Lincoln in the back (of the head), making him the 1st US President ever assassinated (murdered).

In that same year, 1865, Democrats formed the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a rabid band of mad dogs who raped and murdered southern blacks in an 85 year reign of terror (including the known lynching of 3,959 men, women, and children) following the Civil War.

In more “modern” times, a radical democratic-socialist, Lee Harvey Oswald, shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States, in 1963.

Democrat San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Dan White, murdered homosexual activist and supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Mascone, in 1978

Democrat pimping of The Black Panther Party from 1966 until 1982, and the Black Lives Matter activist movement that began in the wake of the July 2013 acquittal of George Zimmerman in the Florida shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin has only thrown gasoline on the fire of unrest between African-Americans and law enforcement officers throughout the US, resulting in chaos, rioting, and deaths.

The difference between our current presidential candidates seems to me to be that Trump is condemned for what he says, while Hillary is condemned for what she has done, is doing and (if past is indeed pirogue) will continue to do in the future: lie, cheat and steal while putting this nation and its people in grave danger. For me the choice is clear: a man who has built a great empire, gone bankrupt, and built it back up again; over a mentally and physically infirm politician who has never had or created a job or met a payroll, but instead nursed at the teat of this nation while feathering her nest with bribes and extortion, and left American representatives and fighting forces in the field to die. Actions speak much louder than words.

And now we have what, to me at least, seems a very deliberate and treacherous mind set: tearing down our walls and throwing open our gates of security to potential enemies of this country with specific intent of creating a government subsidy driven dependent class of emigrants in Democrat self-serving interest of trapping them in poverty and isolation, in the interest of maintaining control over their votes.

You are only guilty of war crimes if you lose the war in question, so your bit about war criminals is factually incorrect

NO, you are only punished for your war crimes if you lose. If you win, you get away with them, but they are still war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Best

1. Dwight D. Eisenhower - Only president to warn us of the shadow government: the military-industrial complex.
2. Abraham Lincoln - Freed the slaves. United the country.
3. John F. Kennedy - "There is a plot to enslave every man, woman and child [of America]. Before I leave office, I will expose it" [sic]

Honorable Mention: Best - Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Worst

1. Andrew Jackson - Trail of tears. Led a campaign against the Native-Americans.
2. James Buchanan - Actions inexorably led to the Civil War.
3. Lyndon B. Johnson - The Butcher of Vietnam. Racist.

Honorable Mention: Worst - George W. Bush

Painfully complicated process for a Thanksgiving Sunday morning and already buggered up by the first group of responders.

As for me, Richard Nixon was the best President, for various reasons:

1. He got me interested in politics
2. He did some great things, not the least of which was bringing the Chinese into 20th century society
3. His failings helped prove that politics and democracy in America can work when good men and women hold leaders to a very high standard of honesty and integrity regardless of party affiliation or patronage. Too bad modern day Democrats didn't learn from early 1970's Republicans.

Worst President was Jimmy Carter - no need to elaborate.

I'm not an historian, so I'm not big on trying to evaluate Presidents who served before I was alive. Not being there, it's hard to tell how the individual handled the times and the day to day experience. My first experience with US Presidents was with JFK but mostly with his assassination and the aftermath. In later years, I came to detest LBJ and his handling of taking over after JFK's death, but it's hard to argue that he wasn't an effective and dynamic politician. Carter, on the other hand, in my view, was the beneficiary of a weak President Ford. Frankly, much as I couldn't stand him, I think Teddy Kennedy would have been a better President. Adding to my distain for Carter has been his behavior after leaving office. He's been a self-important asshole, in my view, and is so bitter that his Presidency was a disaster that he has to be critical of every President who's followed him.

As for Nixon, I think I explained that fairly well and I appreciate that others would find my view in that regard laughable.
