6300 Holocaust documents found behind Budapest wall

Pools and other luxuries?? Oh please, please tell me you made that up. I know people are stupid, but no one is THAT stupid, surely. They can't be.
At the moment I am reading The Complete Maus, the Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novel. Do you know of it? It was written/drawn by Art Spiegelman documenting his father's life. The Jews are depicted as mice, the Nazis as cats and the Poles as pigs. He used mice to depict Jews due to Nazi propaganda portraying Jews as rats and mice. The connotations of the words speaks for itself. It really is quite brilliant and I am enjoying it. We are dropping Australians and the Vietnam War Unit next year for Year 10 and we are going to teach the Holocaust instead (We used to teach the Holocaust years ago and I have taught it for a few years). When I heard about Maus, I bought it because a graphic novel will be good for low literacy students...of course we will only look at sections of the novel, the part in Auschwitz and not his father's life in America after the war.

There actually was a pool. Are you going to say the photos of the pool are a conspiracy and photoshop? Or maybe claim it is a "fire brigade reservoir, built in the shape of a pool", as hilariously claimed by those who find it a bit inconvenient?

Interesting quote. How would the Jews have such power in Germany where they were practically wiped out.

Germany had a Jewish population of 565,000 in 1933 and just 37,000 in 1950.

It was a pool that had been converted from a firefighting reservoir... used for NON Jewish prisoners. Now don't you feel ridiculous... or do you believe in the Holocaust Denier bs?

Even from the Dutch perspective, this shows that it would have been infinitely better for the USA to NOT have entered WW1 and just let the Germans win.

Because then the Nazi's and WW2 would never have gotten started.

So it was Woodrow Wilson who gave birth to the Nazi's.

And it was Woodrow Wilson who killed Anne Frank.

Firefighting reservoirs were not built in that shape (instead sloping from all four sides, see images below) and it was used by prisoners (as testified by survivors Swimming in Auschwitz , Swimming in Auschwitz (2007) - IMDb ). It was no where near SS barracks and the SS rarely came over those parts.

If you produced, wht the government wanted, you got the better job. It worked that way all over the occupied land and especially well at home. And it was legal in most cases. And there is the really disturbing fact that raises interesting questions.

It was converted from the firefighting reservoir. And the film itself documents the the pool was not for the Jewish prisoners. It was mostly for Nazi officers and select non-Jewish prisoners.

Several historians and examiners, including Jan Van Pelt, one of the world's leading experts on Auschwitz. The camp had no fire hydrants. In case of a fire, that's how it was managed.

Basically the argument goes that all that was added in the "conversion" were the diving blocks and boards. Kind of weird that they from the very start built it in the exact shape and form of a swimming pool, long rectangular without low sloping sides as all other fire reservoirs, as also admitted on the sign ("built in the form of a swimming pool", image below). :rolleyes: Even the Auschwitz museum apparently claims the pool was used by "privileged Polish and other political prisoners (non-Jewish), in addition to the fire brigade. I see few people claiming the nonsense it was for the SS. Even camp commandant Rudolph Höss in his memoirs wrote the pool was for kapos and political prisoners who worked well. Then again, Höss had someone "to hold his pen" as Höss also consistently claimed 4 million people were killed at Auschwitz under him. This used to be on a plaque at the entrance of the camp, which was years ago quietly removed and replaced with a one million figure.

This is the pool when it is empty. Kind of weird to build a "fire reservoir" unlike all the others, long and rectangular with nearly straight non sloping walls, in the exact shape of a pool. And to later "convert it", by adding starting blocks and diving boards.
