Immigrants, Health Care and Lies

... Time for a reality check. Illegal immigrants are here. They are not eligible for Medicaid, but many still get sick and many get care, often in emergency rooms. The current proposals would likely not stop them from using their money to buy coverage through an insurance exchange, without subsidies. Just as they can do now.

Should we take a harder line? Force people to prove citizenship in emergency rooms? That’s illegal, for good reason. Make verification requirements so onerous that not a single illegal immigrant slips through? Very expensive, and not smart. It would be highly likely to snag deserving citizens — like old people who don’t have their original birth certificates. And besides, we’ve tried that: A House oversight committee reviewed six state Medicaid programs in 2007 and found that verification rules had cost the federal government an additional $8.3 million. They caught exactly eight illegal immigrants.

The bill specifically states it won't give coverage to non-citizens. Now if some illegal alien somehow is smart enough to find a loophole in a bill do you think this is the one he'd try this with? There are plenty of other bills to take advantage of and this paranoia is based on the theory that there's some secret brotherhood of illegal immigrants that conspire to get health coverage under the health care bill. Most illegal immigrants try to keep a low profile do you really think they'll be trying to get coverage en masse?

the fact is, if you watched teh video, teh illegals can not be denied coverage, regardless of the language in the bill.
the language in the bill is a lie, which youwill see is backed up by Judge Napolitano's examples

citing 2 recent court cases involving the state of California

quit making excuses and deal with the simple facts presented

why dont you people ope your eyes to the truth instead of making excuses

Teh illegals as you put it cannot currently be denied coverage even without this bill. Your point is moot. So he sites court cases about how it works now and how they can't be denied so how exactly did Obama lie again? 8 million dollars spent to find 8 illegal immigrants that cheated medicaid. That's 1 million each illegal probably far more than what they spent on medical bills. So the back door is based on existing law.

right now Illegals can not be turned away at county/state hospitals.
Now they eligible for complete healthcare coverage under 3200

Obama said it would not cover them which is a bold faced lie
if he offers it to all, none can be excluded including illegals
the fact that there are illegals here is another topic

So you're saying no matter how we write the law no matter if its enforced because of existing law they'll be covered no matter what. So what do you propose we stop treating people who need emergency help unless they show a birth certificate?

I'm not debating it, I just want to see the quote for myself. I would assume you'd want to as well. Maybe it exists, but including it sure will be helpful.

watch the OP video. If the Federal Govt offers Medical Care to all
it can not Refuse it to illegals. He cites 2 court cases in California where such a concept was ruled unconstitutional

the PUBLIC OPTION is the FAIL of barry's administration, despite the fact that he is well aware of it

THis is a power grab, plain and simple and Barry is willing ot ignore the constitution to achieve it. he gains power, less likely he will not be re-elected

under 3200, regardless of the wording of the ignoramaces, Illegals will not have to cheat/lie to get treatment, they will be constitutionally guaranteed medical care

The reality is that we already pay for illegal aliens HC costs through our additional HC insurance premiums, which I have seen figures at about an additional $1,000.00 for every taxpayer in this nation.
If a more rigid prison plan (for illegals) was really implemented, we would still have the above insurance burden PLUS the additional tax burden of fully paying for thousands more illegal aliens that we would be required to feed, house & PAY FOR THEIR HC while they are in U.S. prisons, ....Right??!

As long as the standard of living in Mexico is lousy (in other words forever) & Mexicans can better their lives by easily getting jobs here, human nature tells us that they will continue to take the chance of coming here illegally. The OBVIOUS answer is not more imprisoning but preventing them (illegals) from getting the jobs that attract them here. (I realize that this concept is to deep for a short, catchy "Drill Baby Drill" Fox News/GOP soundbites....but reality is complicated, only ignorance is simple.
(that last sentence is aimed at Fox News & the GOP...Not at any forum members here)

I suggest that my comments are on topic (by pointing out the lies about being able to avoid paying for illegals HC) as yours are from the other side.
 
right now, emergency rooms are the health care mechanism for 47.3 million in the USA. most of them citizens
under reform, where all citizens are covered, it would appear to be an excellent time to discuss eliminating the requirement that a publicly supported hospital emergency room provide free service to all who use it
that would effectively eliminate access to health services for illegal aliens
we should decide if we want to do that
similarly decide if we want to exclude the illegal alien children access to public education
i would even suggest we take up a discussion whether we should also reward those who disclose the employment of illegals, where the employer is responsible for paying the substantial bounty for that information
but notice that these are all ancillary issues to the national health care issue. requiring them to be a part of the national health care reform debate undermines that debate
it would not surprise me if that was the intent

it specifically says that illegals are excluded from being eligible for the federal assistance
Obama was correct

he did not say that the current law directing emergency rooms to provide free services to all comers should be ended. your republican cohort should push for that, instead of abandoning the debate

Let me correct you on a few things with your post:

1. The President didn't lie; he was telling the truth. Illegal aliens would not be eligible to receive health care nor receive health care credits under H.R. 3200. The bill specifically states this (albeit in a round-a-bout way; I address this in the thread, post #26 and #29, respectively).

2. Illegals would still receive "emergency medical care" (and I use the phrase losely) with or without health care reform because it's a civic duty for physicians to provide life-saving care. Besides, it's just too difficult to adequately and promptly screen out those who require emergency care from those who don't. For example, I guy who comes into an emergency room with a cold could have a simple cold or he could have acute neumonia. You just don't know until as a doctor you're able properly screen him and obtain a proper diagnosis. And what if you turn a sick person away who happens to be an illegal and it turns out his situation was dire? What then?

3. If you and others are so quick to speak on supporting the U.S. Constitution, why then do you denounce the President when in your own words he's adherring to the very bedrock of our nation's core believes and it's very foundation? Let's not be so hypercritical, shall we. You either want him to support and defend the Constitution or you want him to tread on it. Which is it? You can't have it both ways - call him a liar, but say he's doing it while doing exactly what the Constitution says he's suppose to do.

according to the JUDGE there was recently 2 cases in California that lost
It tried to exclude Illegals from Aid that California was offering to everyone else
