Re: Republican comments on Health Care

Oh, and by the way, I didn't call all Republicans stupid. I was careful with my language so I didn't. I talked about those specific incidents and said "some Republicans" in my statement. I respect many of my Republican friends and posters on this site. Just because you happen to buy all the dollop those people are saying doesn't mean I targeted all Republicans. You aren't all Republicans nor do you stand for all Republicans.

Hey formerroadie,

I admire you passion for health care reform and people being able to experience life fully you are truly some one how cares for people, even people you will never meet. You have true compassion.

There is allot of distortions out there lets focus on them and not on hows to blame. The news will take care of blame the most important thing is we dispels myths and lie.

No. Why don't you tell me. Then you can tell me why that makes the research flawed, and you can show me alternative research that supports your argument. That's how it's done in "civil debate".

No they are not. Yearly health care spending increases are comparable between US, Canada, and most of Europe. NHS has a shortage of doctors, is routinely over budget, and rations care "soviet style". Canada's provincial system has access and cost overrun issues. They all have problems, they are different problems from the ones we have so the simplistic notion that "we just have to do it their way and we'll be fine" is ludicrous. Furthermore, none of the current proposals transform us into any of those various incarnations of UHC. Lastly wouldn't that be confirming one of SouthernDemocrat's Republican "fear mongering" bumper stickers?

This is why I hate threads like this. You take stupid fund raising stunts, and some biased headlines and use that to dismiss ANY and ALL arguments in opposition. This is shoddy slander and is the lowest form of debate. I have provided evidence in support of all my concerns (which you have yet to do), and you dismiss it all out of hand.

Then please provide a rebuttal to the arguments and evidence I have provided, if you are really interested in a "civil debate". This "more competition" is ONE more non-profit provider, that is not a dramatic increase in the amount of competition. Furthermore it is not the "public option" that will increase prices but all of the other new laws and mandates in the bill, as I expressly pointed out. If your position has merit it should be trivial for you to find some supporting evidence.

I cited the Lewin Group, the Congressional Budget Office, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and the previous Council of Economic Advisers. You haven't cited anything, just continue to make unsubstantiated claims that my evidence is false. I eagerly await your "real" numbers that support your position.

You're the one who brought the level of conversation down. OxymoronP and Southerndemocrat both have been able to do it, why can't you?"
I got pissed off because from the OP onward this thread was all about "let's point and laugh at the Republicans". Using biased headlines and a few choice moments of stupidity you attempt to tar any opposition with the same brush. Now that I have elevated the debate to actual health reform topics with actual research and commentary you attempt to dismiss me and pretend to have the moral high-ground. When you are done stroking your own ego I eagerly await an evidence based debate on any of the critical topics that make up health care reform. Bring your 'A' game.
