Sure, however I still suspect he is doped. Anyone doing "extraordinary" things will be suspected and sadly its often justified. And before people say its an "anti-american jab" from me.. bull****. Bolt of Jamaica and all the others from many different nations are suspected dopers because of the "ease" of their victories often.

I haven't heard either phelps or Bolt being suspected of doping. I think if anything, it would be steroids.

unless, those are the same thing....I'm not used to the lingo anymore since I got back from Portugal.

Jeesh. The IOC is utilizing the most advanced and sensitive drug testing regimen for the Beijing Olympics. All competitors were initially required to submit to blood/urine/dna sampling upon arrival. Each competitor is also re-tested after every round of competition. The tests are so sensitive that the IOC warned competitors to avoid native Chinese cusine due to the fact that many Chinese dishes contain natural occuring stimulents which will be detected in the sample analysis. In addition, the IOC will keep all Olympic competitor samples for a period of eight years to accomodate future advances of technology in this area.

Kudos and props to Michael Phelps. I imagine he will hold this unique distinction for quite a long time. It is all the more remarkable considering that Phelps suffers from ADHD.

I hadn't heard that....he certainly seems to be able to focus on swimming!!!
And I suspect that whatever he is lacking in education due to ADHD will be inconsequential. He will make enough in endorsements on this olympics alone to set him up for life.
I read up on this....before doctors ever started prescribing Ritalin, we called Phelps's condition by other names. Whether ADHD was an accurate diagnosis or not, Phelps was clearly a high energy child. Even ordinary kids can be a challenge to parents, kudos to his mom for her substantial efforts in his behalf...

Having to learn how to focus and concentrate as a result of having ADHD no doubt has benefitted Micheal Phelps in some measure.

I had a friend in high school who was ADHD. He was an athletic freak when off of his meds. The problem was that he would get penalties left and right when off the meds. He wasn't as overwhelming when on his meds. It reminds me of Mike Tyson.

It adds to Phelps's legacy that he was able to remain an athletic freak and control his impulses and learn to focus. This had to be the hardest part of his training and biggest obstacle to his success.

For what it is worth, Michael Phelps is one of a number of athletes who are participating voluntarily in "Project Believe" in which blood samples would be retained for additional testing e.g., when new testing technologies are developed. I have little reason to doubt that he is clean.
