CrossTraining

I read in a men's magazine (my husband keeps them in the bathroom) about this intense workout CrossTraining, and was wondering if anyone has done it and what there experience with it was. The idea is supposed to be different sets of exercises everyday for anywhere from 5 to 20 min without a break but with a good warmup and cooldown. It's a trainer-led workout and only the trainers know what the person/people will be doing each day until the workout begins. The guy who came up with the idea says that with all the different exercises that they do and the intensity, a person improves more areas than the normal workout, i.e. balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance to name a few. It sounds interesting.

Re: CrossTraining

Cross training is supposed to be the best way to get in shape. It burns more calories, for longer periods of time than cardio, and it gives you a full body workout.

One of my co-workers is a fighter and swears by cross training. I say fighter because I'm not sure what his style of fighting is called... like, a mix between martial arts, boxing, and free-fighting.

Its probably called "Mixed Martial Arts" or MMA. Pretty popular these days, and I too at one time trained in MMA. Its been a while for me though, with the kid and all.

But I have seen the cross training that roguenuke is talking about. Its more than just normal cross training. Its super intense workouts moving from station to station, without rest, sometimes running to each station. A trainer personally takes you to each excersise, while another guy is loading up the machine for you before you get there. You don't know really what the weight is(you can kind of guess by the plates real quick), or how many reps they are going to make you do. Its pretty hardcore.
